Is 32GB eneough? Help me understand.

32GB is enough for most people, it depends on your data plan / reception / wifi, so you have access to your cloud. Otherwise, if you want to be safe, of course go for the 128GB version. I have a Moto X 32 GB and since I use Google photos, it is more than enough, as I am just deleting videos and photos, when it gets too full.

One of the reasons I upgraded from the 16 GB Moto X that the OP has to the 32 GB Nexus 5X was because I had too much Google Play Music (10 GB) that I wanted to pin locally. I pin the "Thumbs Up" playlist and then just thumbs up all the songs I like, it's a very efficient way to save on data without having to manage anything at all. I haven't run out of space, and right now I have 8 GB left over. Honestly, If I had to choose between buying the 128 GB version and paying an extra $10 a month on Cricket for 10 GB instead of 5GB of data, I'd pay the extra on Cricket (my scenario). It's just way more flexible that way, even if it costs somewhat more in the long run. The only difference I'm considering this time around is the VR stuff, but it doesn't sound like the games and apps available out of the gate are going to take up huge amounts of space anyway.

As long as you're not into storing large amounts of music on you'll probably be fine. I usually have between 70-90 apps installed and still have plenty of room .

No, 32GB is not enough. Even if you're just taking photos, you will easily run out of space. To be honest the smaller size is always a bait for the bigger one, but you have no choice. Definitely go with the bigger one which is 128GB, no brainer.

I agree. 64GB would be the absolute bare minimum for me if the device lacked expandable storage. I always found it strange that Google would develop adoptable storage with microSD but then not showcase it in their own handsets. I get that they want to push their online storage service but still find it annoying. 32GB is like the new baseline. For those that casually use their phones, it won't matter; for everyone else it, it's quite possibly annoying and exploitative.

Consider the cost to download google maps if you use them offline. For two years you may be fine but any more than that may be a stretch because of updates. I uses about 16gb but on a trip may not have access to wifi to upload to google phots. That is where 64gb would have been nice. BUt 128 GB is your only other option.

I had a Note 4 for two years and I was full with nothing that could be clouded, so for me 32 gb is not enough. I currently have a 64gb Note 7, but with the current issues clouding the Note 7, it is anyone's guess right now if I will be able to keep that phobe. That said, I will have trouble going back to a 32gb phone, even for one year.

32 is not enough and 128 is way too much. My 64gb 6p hovers around 35 or so GB used. So that means it would fill up a 32gb model and never even come close to a 128.

I think it is prettty simple. Whether Google made this an issue or just knew now days they wouldn't sell a lot of 64gb's.

If you stream music, movies and archive all your photos to the cloud all the time, then 32GB will be fine. 32GB should cover all the apps, games and a small amount of media. If you go on vacation in places with good mobile coverage and supports your provider and Mobile data then you can continue your networked life style.

But if you want to store music, videos, movies etc on the device and don't backup all your photos all the time over Mobile data then don't even think of buying the 32GB you will regret it. If you sometimes travel 'off the grid' and wont have access to your normal Mobile data, get the 128gb.

The 32 GB Pixel would be enough for me. I use cloud storage for the most part and I don't download a lot of apps. I stream just about everything over wifi. So I would definitely not have any issues with 32 GBs. Currently, I have a smartphone with 16 GBs of internal storage.

The cloud replaces the need for an SD card for most if they don't mind spending a few seconds managing it...

I hate having my pictures only in the cloud. Of course I auto upload everything to the cloud, but if I want to show someone a picture it's much faster to look it up on the SD card rather than scrolling through thumbnails on a cloud app and waiting them to download. So I love the clouds for back up and long distance sharing, but I like local storage better.

Depends on how you use your phone but I'd need more than 32 GB. My 64 GB Nexus 6 only has few GB left after nandroid backup and my favorite music and movies.

My guess would be 128gb, because I'm planning to keep the Pixel for abt 2-3 years. And until then we'll need more and more storage... Wish it's had a 64gb though

I would say it's not. Unless you are very diligent in deleting photos from the phone that are backed up, you'll be struggling with 32. I have a 32gb S7E and the only way I can make that work is all of my videos and photos are stored on my 64gb SD card.

I have been waiting for this phone to come out to decide what I want to replace my 16GB Moto X and lately my life has been If I need an app, I need to delete an app.

Looking at my phone it only shows that 10.33GB of storage, so I am assuming that missing 6GB is being used by VZW and the OS? I have moved basically all my photos and vidoes to google photos to clear up space and basically have 7.4GB allocated to app date and media content.

My concern is if keep this phone 2-3 years am I going to be running into the same problem with space? Crunching numbers I think 32GB would work, but I don't know how much of that is really going to be mine and what will OS/Security updates take?

Any thoughts would be appreciative on what is the best way to look at this. It sounds crazy to pay and extra $100 for the extra storage, but to me it would be worse to spend $700 on a phone that I run out of storage on.

Part of this discussion is that all 128GB modesl our out of stock so do I wait or just order the 32GB now?

If you're in the habit of moving/transferring your photos, I'd think the 32 GB would be enough. I was OK with a 32 GB Droid Turbo for just about 2 years, but I was a minimal to moderate user with photos and videos. But it sounds like the 128 GB option is the one you might be leaning more towards. I'd wait it out until you are able to order one.

Personally 32 isn't enough. But I also store everything on my phone. I don't use the cloud for anything, but I've also never needed to because I tend to get the highest capacity. But if I had to get 32GB phone, I'd rely much more on the cloud.

You can live with 32gb but you'll have to clean photos regularly and forget keeping your music in the phone. The .thumbdata files for example are 4gb in my 32 gb Nexus 5 even after deleting the local photos and videos, which I do once a month.
