ISSUE: 4G Icon & Signal Bars Go White. Help?

There's My Screenshots. As Soon As I Get In My Verizon App, It Turns White. And As Soon As I Swipe App Off From Recent Apps, It Goes Back To Blue

Sent From My Droid Maxx

That is simply an app issue and how Verizon coded their My Verizon App. They may have written it in a way where they disconnect you from google services (there are api's for that). Why they did that is beyond me, but it is clearly an app issue and not a phone issue. I have the same issue as well.

There Is No Answer Yet When It Comes To The White 4G & Signal Bars While At My Verizon App.

Not to be rude but does it matter? When using the Verizon app, are you not able to make phone calls or use data? Or are you just curious as to why for the sake or knowing?

Re: ISSUE: 4G Icon & Signal Bars Go White. Help?

The question WAS answered:

FYI... WiFi blue just means that you're connected to Google Play services, even though the 4G indicator is white. WiFi data supercedes Cellular Data.

That is fine, but that answer does not match my experience. I was on white all day today and received all notifications just fine. I will be in the same hospital tomorrow, so I will check location services and other Google Play services.

It is not a big deal, as it does not affect they way I use my phone. I am just curious.

In my case it is just curiosity and it does not matter.

We are talking about Google sync services. Were you receiving Gmail notifications while the icon was white, from the Gmail app? If the icon was white, you shouldn't have been. For other apps, that's definitely possible. White does not necessarily mean no internet connectivity - it means that the interface is not authenticated to Google sync services.

I am not sure. I will have to check tomorrow. I am sure you are right though. I did receive one email on Gmail today that should have registered a notification, but I don't remember if it did or not. I thought it did, because I would not have check without the notification, but I may be misremembering.

Thanks for the response.

Its Just Curiosity. That's it. My phone works fine still but I just had that question & if I was the only one experiencing it. Period.

I wouldn't say that because my signal bars stay blue when I go into the My Verizon application. Does it really natter though?

Ok, so I tested this morning and not only do I get Gmail notifications, Google Play automatically updated an app while both bars are white. Curious. I seem to be getting Google services despite not having the phone indicate that I am connected.

My theory? I have Google Services via the 4G connection, but the software has that indicator white based on the fact that I have a good wifi connection. Here is a screen shot.

The image isn't showing on Tapatalk but Wi-Fi negates the LTE and will turn it white. I have never had an Android phone where the signal stays blue. I have seen the Wi-Fi turn white before which is when it wouldn't sync up.

White Signal with WiFi Off - Not connected to Google Sync.

White Signal with Blue WiFi - Connected to Google Sync.

Blue Signal with WiFi Off - Connected to Google Sync

Just updated so the pic shows now. The mystery is that the indicators say I am not synced with Google services, but Google services are functioning.

This is clearly not an issue, I am just curious, and may point to a small bug in coding the notifiers.

Ah I see it now. Strange but yes I've always found this to be inconsistent myself.

Interestingly enough, I have seen blue icons for both WiFi and mobile data on the Maxx since I have had it. The next time I see I'll try to remember to grab a screen shot and post it...

Ah, that's a good theory. It may be that your work WiFi is blocking the port that Google sync services uses, so the phone is falling back to mobile data, but, for some reason (a bug?), the icon isn't turning blue.
