Got the email today, and delivery is expected on Monday. I guess I waited this long I can hold out a few more days. It is not going to be easy but what else can I do but wait, and read about what others think of the S3.
Got my email notification of pending shipment, per FedEx tracking it is expected to ship today and arrive Monday.
Oh, and I ordered a white 16GB online on June 12th, for those who are tracking this sort of thing.
My issue is, I live alone and work normal daytime hours, so I'm never there when FedEx or UPS deliver. Most of my UPS shipments are ground from Amazon so they just leave the package on my doorstep and it's fine. I live in a quiet townhouse neighborhood, my front door is actually around the corner from the street and there is a nice berm hiding the front doorstep from the street going past my neighborhood. Because of this I'm thinking about printing my FedEx notification and writing "ok to leave package" and signing it. Although I'm actually leaning towards leaving a heavy black PVC trunk on my step, locked to a post and with an open padlock so the FedEx guy can put the package in the box and then lock it (and I would write the request to do so on the note). Has anyone ever tried something like this, do you think the FedEx guy will comply? Also, I'm wondering what the temperature will be like inside that box once it's closed, and if the phone will be ok. It's supposed to be 85 on Monday (much cooler than this week) and overcast/rainy, so I don't think it will be too bad. Once I get home from work I will let the phone return to room temp in the A/C before I turn it on. Anyone have any thoughts on if the phone would be ok, assume worst-case the sun is shining on the box and it gets up to 120-130 inside... I would think it'd be ok, but I certainly don't want to risk any damage just to avoid waiting an extra day to pick it up at the FedEx facility.

I've been through this a few time with other packages with Fedex.
For those getting the run around about being allowed to pick up your phones at the local Fedex facility you just have to call Verizon and ask the CSR to call Fedex and redirect to allow customer pick up at the facility.
If you call Fedex directly, they will probably tell you that they have to attempt the first delivery because that is what the shipper (Verizon) asked for when they shipped it to you - they need a signature. So the only way to get around that (if the Fedex guy says no) is to call Verizon and have them change it. It costs them NOTHING to redirect the pick up at the facility no matter how they shipped it - overnight or 2nd day. If the CSR gives you the run around - elevate to the next tier or call back for a more responsive CSR that is willing to call Fedex.
I did that this morning and will be picking it up at the facility this afternoon.

when I went on my dad's account (still part of his plan, no sense in moving to my own since I have unlimited), when I preordered the phone, I transferred his upgrade to my line (he has a dumbphone). I went through the process, and it did keep saying for line ending in mine, and showed unlimited data as well still. Well when I logged in it showed his line is on contract for the next 2 years (said available for an upgrade on March 2014) While mine still shows November.
Did they screw up and give the S3 to my dad's line? Is there a way I can fix it without getting screwed over?

Got it! Talked to cust service at fed ex and the driver dropped it off at a fed ex kinkos. Went and signed for it...and so far loving it with one exception...I got so used to vanilla ics that I need to get back in the 'skin' mindset.
your dad's line is going to show not eligible for upgrade until 2014 because you used his upgrade when you transfered it to your line.

got an email today saying my order was on hold, called Verizon and fixed the problem, told me it'll ship out today!
I got my tracking number this morning, status on FedEx site is Intiated, with overnight shipping due here on the 9th. Email from Verizon states ship date was the 5th, I'm holding out hope the email is right haha.
Still haven't been charged. This is so depressing.

Well my tracking info just said that my phone has just landed in newark..which means..my.phone went from an hour away from me to now 2 hours away from me..it was sooo close..now its farther

Mine moved to 2 locations within a hr from me, now it moved 20min from me and says "package on hold for delivery" You tin me?! I called and cant pick it up because its in a container and not loose. Damn.

It's here. FYI - if you are not going to be home FedEx allows you to leave a note on your door to leave the package. You have to sign and date it.
