"I've ordered my Nexus 5X" (Order & Shipping Discussion)

I had to re-order mine a few days ago as Google had charged my personal card rather than my company one.. It's still showing as pending with the payment not yet taken either.

Come on Google get your backsides in gear!

I am holding out hope that the Carphone Warehouse says that they expect delivery to be on 19th Oct so to my mind that's the latest that we should get ours from pre-order :)
 
I spoke with google store chat rep and mine is slated to ship on the 23rd. I went with standard shipping...Depending where it comes from, I'm guessing it will arrive by the following Wednesday-Friday.
 
Looks like a few people from the India Google event that happened today are starting to post unboxing. I think this is the first time the Nexus phones arrived in India first.

My black 32gb says leaving warehouse by the 23rd with the Google Play method. Hopefully that's an overestimate.
 
Chatted with Project Fi support today to see if could change shipping method - can't, which was surprised/disappointed by. Was told phone scheduled to ship Oct 20 and arrive in 3 to 5 days. For reference, current status online is Pending Oct 23 - 27.
 
Got my carbon copy of the Nexus 5X. As of right now it's October 22-27. I'm hoping earlier as I did pre-order the day of. :)

Their service with dealing with orders is absolutely horrendous. Hasn't shipped, they should be able to modify as other small market retailers can. Secondly, they wouldn't even modify my order since my credit card was hacked and had to be replaced. They basically said wait until it rejects, or cancel and get back in line. Great service Google.

I totally agree - The payment process wasn't great for me, either. I paid on 9/29 using Google Payments/Wallet; it wasn't obvious in checkout what card would be charged (I've got a credit and debit in my account). There wasn't a place in the ordering process to specify WHICH card I wanted to use, which is nuts since for a lot of people, the card you use for a $0.99 app might not be the thing you want to use for a $500 purchase (which mine was by the time I added tax+protect to my 32GB 5x). Turns out my debit was charged, and I'd have much rather had my credit since that's a decent chunk of miles. I've been in touch with support; who admitted that the process was confusing, and one guy actually tried to see if he could change payment methods - no dice. It's especially bothersome since Payments still lists the charge as 'pending' and the preauthorization is gone. My options are to keep it on the debit, or cancel and start again (which I didn't want to do since I ordered like half an hour after the end of the keynote on 9/29).

Also, FWIW: The Google Play method says my black 32GB N5x is "leaving house by" Oct 20.

With the preface/caveat that I dont' work in manufacturing or logistics, the part in my case I really can't understand is why changing only the shipment method, and not anything that impacts the actual production of the phone, should be problematic. Like you said, this is the type of thing that have never had an issue with (with any other retailer, large or small) unless the thing had bought was within 24 hours of being in transport (and, again, in this case was told my phone was showing in the system that still a week out from shipping).

I might be wrong but I would have thought fulfilling Carphone Warehouse's order was likely to be of greater priority to Google than fulfilling individual orders.
 
My order was placed using a credit card that has been since canceled (lost). After spending a painful 30 minutes on the phone with Google, he told me I will receive an email when the order is ready to ship and I can update my payment method via a link in this email. I have no clue if I can trust him but I guess it's my only option. His other suggestion was to cancel the order and re-place it and lose my place in line.
 
You can do both. Order another one. Which ever ships first, you can cancel the other.

I hope you are correct but in my case citi bank called to verify I still had the card. Seems that google verified, then returned, then charged, then reversed and now have charged again. I ordered the 5x black 32gb and it says oct 20 ship date for mine.
