JT Super Clean Rom available on Rom Manager

both kernels in rom manager (well all four if you count voodoo and non voodoo) are stock clock speeds.

no need to wipe when flashing a kernel.

if you are a beginner, stay away from voodoo.

heck, just stay away from voodoo in general until beta5 is working with our phones (most likely post froyo)

voodoo is still buggy and can be a pain to remove if it doesn't uninstall itself smoothly.

please make sure you acquaint yourself with the OS before you go changing roms, kernels, rooting, etc as all those things have the potential to get you in trouble if you don't know what you're doing. :)

Thanks for the advice, I was bored so imma give the stable voodoo from jt for now. Still kinda wondering about the 1.2ghz OC'd versions.

I have been reading a little about this here, but haven't quite gotten the big picture yet. Who is this JT, and why is he making roms for the Fascinate? Where can I find more information on the project, and more to the point what will make me trust this software on my phone?

Would you give your wallet to some random person on the street who offered you a fancier wallet in exchange for being able to hold all of the contents? I am sure I'm not the only one out there who uses their phone for a lot of very private personal and professional information, the security of which is of rather high priority...

thanks man, that's exactly what I thought but wasn't sure about flashing the kernel.

Probably a geek cooking stuff up in his parents' basement. None of us actually know. Not gonna find many android devs with a company office and an 800 number for tech support.

Shoulda bought a Blackberry :)

so after installing this ROM, I also chose to install the evolution font. it seems to be missing a few special characters. is there a way to change the font without re-flashing?

I think your analogy is way off. I believe it is more like taking your wallet to a leather shop and having it customized to your taste.

If you aren't comfortable with it don't do it.

You will probably have to flash, just don't worry about wiping data/cache the font is just a theme laid over the ROM.

I agree, if you don't wanna do something don't do it.

But it can be reversed, so if are a person who likes to customize your things to make them run better than stock. Then imo it's worth doing. And if anything happens you can just go back to your old stock phone again.

Agreed.

You really think that just because someone takes the time to package a rom that they have the best of intentions at heart? I found JTs github and read about his work on xda, so I have some tenuous trust in him. If you guys really are just jumping in feet first and eyes closed, god help you when someone less than honorable comes along for an easy score.

Not much different then the blind trust we put in downloading apps. It shows all the stuff the app has access to and I'm shocked at some of the things most apps need.

At least in that case you get a chance to see what the app can do and you can reject it before it even installs. If some ne'er do well decides he's going to poison a rom from the ground up you could use it, hell you might even like it, and all the while its in the background funneling your data to a russian hacker and you would have absolutely no way to know. Maybe I am just overly paranoid from working in it security for so many years, but that kind of **** does happen. Be careful out there, the identity you save might be your own!

Kernel

If I wanted to go back to stock kernel but keep jt rom, can I just install the stock kernel via odin over the nonvoodoo kernel? Would there be any advantage to doing this?

Are you talking about installing the stock kernel in Odin vs using Clockwork? If you have a flashable zip of the stock kernel just use Clockwork - it's easier and you get the same results.

Although i thought the stable non-voodoo kernel was just a stock kernel with bootanimation's?

So you shouldn't have to go back to a stock kernel unless you went the voodoo route, unless im mistaken...

This is laughable coming from someone who would do a one click root process. Did you check that to see what it was putting into your phone. I know what is going into my phone, I use ADB for most everything I put into my phone, except ROMs and I am signed up at xda, thank you. I follow the devs there as well as a couple of other sites. I posted so that people not comfortable with adb and zip files would be able to get their feet wet flashing ROMs, from a trusted source, ROM manager and the devs at xda. Thank you and good day.

./adb logcat

The non voodoo kernel is a custom kernel. It is not the stock kernel it just does not have the voodoo lagfix (ext4).

I would definitely try getting the stock zip and using Clockwork as well. Much safer and easier.
