JT Super Clean Rom available on Rom Manager

This is laughable coming from someone who would do a one click root process. Did you check that to see what it was putting into your phone. I know what is going into my phone, I use ADB for most everything I put into my phone, except ROMs and I am signed up at xda, thank you. I follow the devs there as well as a couple of other sites. I posted so that people not comfortable with adb and zip files would be able to get their feet wet flashing ROMs, from a trusted source, ROM manager and the devs at xda. Thank you and good day.

So you didn't use one click root then? I did go through the developers notes, and read through all the scripts it was using, before even plugging my phone into my PC. Being a much smaller package makes it a lot more manageable than an entire rom, though.

another thing I've noticed is that the Extended SoftKey Backlight stays on after receiving an email, txt or any other notification. Has anyone else noticed this? when I downloaded the ROM I checked the 15 sec backlight extender, but it's definitely staying on until I turn on the screen. I guess it's almost like an indicator light, but I'm guessing it is probably killing off a bit of battery doing so.

That would definitely take juice from the battery. I disabled it shortly after installing the ROM, I kinda like not having the indicator lights. When it was enabled though I don't remember it staying on after I checked my emails.

If your using one of JT's kernels with BLN on it that's what's causing it to light up after a notification. :) Or at least that's why mine does it.

ahhh, is that what the "Disable BLN" is for? after looking through Rom Mgr, I just noticed the description for it... I thought it was for something else so I didn't have it initially disabled. let me try it out... thanks guys!

No problem, i never did the "disable BLN". Cuz sometimes i find the BLN useful, like when im away from my phone and its locked and i dont know if i've missed a text or call.

But as far as it draining more battery, i haven't noticed too much if at all, but i wouldn't doubt it.

Let me know if it works for you.

yup, that worked. thanks!

maybe I'll consider it again later since it is a nice indicator light, but I just wouldn't want it draining battery overnight like I noticed this morning when I got a late email and didn't see it until this morning... could explain why my battery drain was much higher last night than the night before

Quick question. I just installed the ROM and now i need to restore all of the apps i had. I see that the apps i had purchased show up in the market, but not the apps that were free. Is there a way to get the list of free apps i had installed? I do have backups made using Titanium, but if i restore using this app i still don't see the app show up in the market app. I want to see the free apps i had before show up in the market so i know when there is an update.

Any way to do this?

do you use appbrain at all? appbrain is nice because it keeps track of all the apps you have installed on your phone and makes it pretty easy to install all your apps back should you have to wipe your phone for any reason. if you aren't using appbrain, then now would be a good time to start =)

No i've been using the Android Market. Thanks for the tip though, let me give appbrain a try going forward.

Just to expand on this question, do most people restore their apps after they install a new ROM by using a backup/restore tool like Titanium, or do they do a "fresh" install from the market? I'm trying to install each app again from the market because i'm paranoid if i restore the app, i might somehow slow down the phone. I think i'm just being overly paranoid because the main reason for me to try a new ROM is to get improved battery life (i could barely get 10 hrs with medium usage). I must say that my signal strength seems much better with this ROM.

With froyo, the market sync is really good. 2.1, not so much. I have app brain but have not had to do a full re-install yet.

That being said, are you all wiping with jt's rom? I just installed over my stock image after removing voodoo. I wonder if my battery might get better if I reinstall after a wipe?

so, with the 2.2 Youtube app baked into this ROM Now.... how do we go about fixing it once it starts the "Force Close" when launching it?

Do we effectively have to perform the same procedure that we did on stock rom to get rid of the baked in Youtube, then install the 2.2 youtube as a standalone App? (allowing for uninstall/re-install when Force Closes start to happen) ..

??

So after a Backup/wipe/clear cache we install Appbrain then restore all of our apps from Appbrain right?

Also, do you have to install a voodoo or non-voodoo kernel or can you leave it unchecked.

You can leave it alone, if you want to run the completely stock kernel. But i would use the "stable Non-Voodoo Kernel 11/06" personally if you don't wanna dive into using a Voodoo kernel. Because you'll notice it's alot faster and even get's better battery life than the completely stock one. Just make sure to do a nandroid backup before trying any kernel, just you have it. :) Hope this helps.

The only thing I miss with JT's ROM is ThinkFree Office. Anybody have a deodexed version from the fascinate that can be installed? I really don't want to have to pay for it on the market when it's included with the stock ROM.

The system dump has it. It does not have to be deodexed. There is no odex file with it. It is called thinkdroid.
