How does it feel compared to an iPhone 5? I think a lot of buzz surrounding this phone is that it's the first android handset that's made out anything other than plastic or a material like it, kind of has a novelty feature to it if you will. I'd imagine it'd feel just like an iPhone 5 but a tad more heavier and more rounded in the back. While the iPhone is stupid light, my Note 2 feels more "premium" than it. Going from the iPhone to the Note 2, the iPhone just felt like a toddler's toy.

EDIT: Nvm, already discussed.

I really don't get the hype about the ip5 IMO. Not hatin but it felt like I was holding a 2000 boost mobile chirp.

Hype is apple, not a lot else.

That is why you are seeing a lot of people who are apple customers looking hard at this phone. It gives them the aesthetics while having a better experience.

Lol. These kind of comments are funny. Better is purely subjective. Sometimes people are just looking for something different if they can get comparable experience. Not necessarily better.

I've owned iPhone, ipad, and even macbook pro so I am speaking from experience. If you like small screen phones that are straight forward and don't let you deviate from the base ui then you're good. I know quite a few apple users that want what android has right now: better maps experience, more phone sizes, more ui customization, notifications easily accessible and swipe to dismiss, etc.

Apps are long since moot now in favor of apple.

Iphone design and ui haven't changed in many years.

Some things are better but other things subjective. That's all I'm saying. And I'm one that has had every high end android and every iPhone and iPad that's come out. Is Google maps better? Yes. But customizations is subjective. Apple stock apples kicks androids apps arse. That's why we replace almost all with 3rd party solutions. But as I stated, everyone doesn't care about that. So again those are people looking for something different and that's my point. Myself I do it out of boredom lol. I get tired of both platforms at some point and switch. Not because I'm looking for better but because I'm looking for different. Sure there are some things that android does better but to act like iPhone doesn't do anything better would be foolish. So why would people leave one that is better in some areas to another that's better in different areas? Because they just want something different. We can agree to disagree. That's what these forums are for lol.

Sure, I never said iPhone sucks though which is what people think if you so much as say their device isn't best.

Yes, they do care. I've seen more people st my work ditching iPhone. Most wanted to for a while but apple smartly locked them into the ecosystem.

Yes some care and I don't think you think iPhone sucks. I just have an opinion that better is subjective and there are various reasons people make choices. Android users ditch android for iPhone too. But we would probably read about that more on an iPhone forum not here. Everyone has their needs and wants and will buy accordingly. Some switch because of what they believe is better and others switch for other reasons. To group all people that switch devices into one reason wouldn't be an accurate representation. Like I said I switch back and forth. Not because I think one is better but because I get bored and want something new. And I am sure there are a lot of people like that and I'm sire there aren't. Our workplaces, circle of friends, or households are not an accurate representation of the decisions made by others in the world. My wife says she will never give up an iPhone. I made her try android but she feels strongly about iPhone being better. What does that mean? Nothing much because that's her. But again agree to disagree.

Many people will say the one is better than the S4 and vice versa. But usually the things they define as better are subjective to users. For instance, removable battery and sd card. Some will say the S4 is better because of these 2 things. Well to many, those things mean squat and therefore do not male it better. But someone may switch from an HTC device to the S4 because they are tired of sense and want to try something different. That's my only point in this.

Very well said i would rather have a lag free phone with a clear true display,HTC have met my needs, where the removable battery sd card have nothing to do or effect my needs.

And just to offer another example. My brother was on my Verizon account for a few years and he had a motorola x. Last year he finally saved up enough money and went and got himself an iPhone 4 then a couple month ago he got the itch to get an S3 so I was able to upgrade him for free to get one. He was enjoying it. Then I decided to switch over to t-mobile prepaid so I ported all my numbers over including his. We sent the S3 back and I got him one for t-mobile. I gave him control over his line and no longer paying his bill.

1 week later, He ported back to Verizon ans signed a 2 year contract on an iPhone 4s. Why didn't he get an S3? He said because iPhone was better. I argued with him for hours of why it wasn't and it wasn't dumb to sign a 2 year contract on a 2 year old device. He didn't care because he got his iPhone. It occurred to me that just because I thought something was better doesn't mean it is. Hos experience with both made him choose iPhone. Now I'm sure he will get another android at some point but people make choices for their own reasons.

One person can own an HTC device and think android is awesome and that same person can own a Samsung device and think android isn't as good. They all have different strengths and weaknesses and what exactly is better is to be determined by the person using it.

Can the black bar be disabled?

Sent from my EVO using Android Central Forums

No, that's how it was on my Evo LTE but HTC later updated it to make it possible, but having only two buttons on one, it may not be possible. I hate it too but I'm still going to get the phone..

I just left an at&t store and messed with the phone just a bit. The first thing I noticed was that the screen was not bright at all. I checked the settings and the brightness was turned all the way up. I kept checking the settings thinking I'm crazy or something because this thing was not as bright as I've heard about. A LG Optimus G was sitting right by it and it made the One's screen brightness look horrible. I pulled out my galaxy nexus and my wife's S3 and they both beat the One. LCD panels are brighter than AMOLEDs so what gives? I'm hoping that, that model was defective. Has anybody else noticed this?

I'm going from an iPhone 5 to the One but I noticed when I added my email (me.com) on some emails it would only show
me the links instead of the complete message and I would have to open a web page to view everything. Is there a way to change this
or is this how it's going to be??

I've also held the one and although I think the z10 is the perfect phone size wise to hold and use, the one felt a lot bigger but also pretty premium as well

I wonder about that too. I saw that before and just had my icloud email forwarded to my gmail account. But I understand of that's not a suitable option for you.

Ok, so it would not do it when you forward it to your gmail? So it's just something with the iCloud email setup or something? Thanks for advise

Just used it in store... Very nice. I was a little surprised at how light it felt even with the anti theft device on it. The s3 next to it definitely looked bulkier and felt heavier. The screen is nice but honestly next to s3 it didn't feel that much different. Very snappy interface and sense 5 is something I could get used to using (unlike previous sense versions I couldn't like for whatever reason).

Yeah didn't have that problem when forwarding. It sent the message in the email.
