I finally decided to downsize. I normally avoid "Smaller" phones. Aways going 6.6 and above. But I don't watch movies or play games. And I don't post much on social media. So hopefully I can learn to type on a smaller phone.

But with the same chip as the Pixel 9 pro, and 120 hertz screen. This isn't exactly mid range device IMO.

It's definitely midrange!

Using the same chip as the 9 pro doesn't elevate the status of the 9a, the Tensor 4 is OK for day to day stuff but for anything like photo editing or gaming it's not up to it, there's no way a £1000 smartphone should come with anything less than the most powerful SOC there is.

Also, 120hz is ubiquitous throughout all midrange and flagship phones so that's not a differentiator.

It's definitely a mid-range phone... And there are things that are going to remind you about it like heat, bezels and the plastic feel. It's also abnormally thick and heavy for a phone its size.

The 9a doesn't feel like plastic, it has an aluminium frame, yeah the back is plastic but holding it in your hand you wouldn't know.

As for the weight, it's lighter than the 9 or the 9 pro and it has a bigger battery, which I'm sure accounts for the thickness.

Hope you enjoy your phone and keep us posted on your thoughts while daily driving it, I test drove a pixel A series awhile back and the phone handled excellent.
Tx Really enjoyable. Compact, fast and comfy. Screen is excellent. Speakers are actually good. The camera is....well Google style. Tres bien
