Kickstand Peeling

Mines doing the same thing but I figure in a few months it will be all off and the same color again.

It will look much better once its all peeled off. I don't feel like unrooting and re doing a new phone with a chance it will happen with the replacement.

I don't intend on ever using the kickstand and have only opened it once to check it out. Mines not peeling yet and I hope it doesn't start. Knock on wood.

Use some Brasso on it and peel the rest of the coating off. Then it will be shiny.

Yeah I just noticed mine a few days ago.... I was getting annoyed by it but now is meh. I'll live with it.

Ugh, unbelievably poor design. I suspect the issue will be widespread. Much like many thought the TB has an aluminum unibody but it is jus cheap plastic. Now the nice looking "brushed metal" kickstand is actually plated/coated with some really bad crap with no durability.

I remember when i got my bold, that some people were reporting that the paint on the keyboards was peeling off. a couple of days later mine started doing the same thing. however for some reason it didn't bother me. guess i was tired of switching out the phone. if it happens with the bolt, then i will most likely keep it lol.

You sure its not just the protective plastic cover that you peel off when new? like what is on the screen, and over the camera lens? I just checked my kickstand, and it is just brushed metal, no plastic on it at all.

The coating that is peeling off is a protective lacquer that they spray on to protect the metal from tarnishing. They usually do this on decorative type metals like key chains to give it a permanent "shine".

I just noticed mine is peeling too
but i don't feel like returning it, im sure the replacement will do the same.

Should be covered under the 1 year manufacturer warranty. Bring it back to vzw and tell them its defective.

I can see my small circle peels on my already and I only had the phone since friday night!
