Kickstand Peeling

I cut a strip of screen protector and put it on the kickstand on day one. I figured it might scratch. Mine looks like new! On the EVO the kickstand is lower than the case back, on this phone the kickstand is HIGHER! so if you dont have a case on it the first thing to get damaged is going to be the kickstand. The screen protector works well for me.

Should be covered under the 1 year manufacturer warranty. Bring it back to vzw and tell them its defective.

Yeah but I don't think it will work, they consider that cosmetic and does not interfere with using the device. Just found my devices kick stand is peeling, I am just going to let it peel off the metal under is not bad looking so its no big deal for me.

One tip, once the coating is gone you can take a fine scotch brite sanding pad and grain the kickstand to look like stainless.

Mine's doing it too. Big deal.
When it all comes off I'll hit it with some compound on a buffing wheel...it'll look like chrome.

Some people...you could give them a cure for cancer and they'd still find something to complain about...I swear.

Wait...cosmetic? I hope you realize that the kickstand is the antenna...you are supposed to flip it out while making voice calls.

I just noticed its happening to mine. I never would have noticed it until it got bad, or I read this thread I dont really care, its not worth getting a new phone for me. Maybe one day if I jack my phone up I will use it as an excuse to get a freebie without a deductible

Didnt notice mine until reading this post, but im not worried about it. Judging by these responses even if I replace it, it will just happen again and its not a big deal to me. Plus my phone is rooted and setup the way i want and dont want to redo it.

Same thing here as well. I took my nail and scratched it off farther down... it looks like it will be fine once it is all removed. I just wonder if it will mess up the "with Google"... like is the protective coating to keep that on there? I'd hate for it to be half on half off...

Anyone remove the protective coating all together yet? pics, plz! So far there are only pics of it chipping no pics of the finished product once it's all removed.

i use my kickstand all the time. i just noticed it doing it on mine since seeing this post.
it is just a protective coating.

i cant really care less. if this bothers you, you have too easy of a life.

I have not yet received my Thunderbolt from Amazon, but I think that complaining about a little chip on your kickstand is being a bit too "nit-picky." It's not like there is a scratch on your screen or anything. Isn't that going to happen through normal use anyway? :/

Noticed mine was doing this yesterday, then spotted this thread today. Mine is flaking off on the back side too. Not too happy, and I keep my phone in a case too.

I assume this will flake off the 'with Google' also...what's the deal with HTC's build quality?

I've had plenty of phones over the years that have 0 scratches anywhere on them after 1-2 years of use. Normal wear and tear isn't the same for everyone. If I keep my devices scratch free, and the kickstand is chipping/peeling on it's own, it's not normal or acceptable.

I've opened my kickstand about 2-3 times ever, and I have a case that prevents it from ever touching anything. And it's still chipping.
