Kickstand Peeling

Um, yeah, I thought I was immune to the peel, until I started to notice the tip of the kickstand. I believe that this might have something to do with the fact that it was used a few times. :(

i am in the "it doesn't bother me a bit" camp, but well mine doesn't seem to be showing this at all. i find that stranger than anything, as i use mine pretty frequently. maybe a bad batch of spray made it through QC, hence only some of us are seeing this.

anyway i'm guessing acetone will remove it all the way if its really bugging you, works with most adhesives and polymers.

Mine is the same way, but common now guys, your next one will do the same after a month or two of use. I am not too worried about it, I mean I don't consider it a defect. I would stick with it instead of going through the hassle of rooting the next phone again.

That's the only reason I have not called Verizon and asked for a replacement device. The kickstand is peeling due to a horrible design flaw but it's not worth replacing every month and having to redo all of my settings. And let's not forget the trip to the local FedEX store to drop the phone off.

Would there be an easy way to peel all of the coating off quickly without damaging anything? I'd be willing to do that just to even the device out and make it look as it should.

I dont know a way of doing it. it seems like there is another layer on top of the original kickstand, I dont know why they did that in the first place, just leave it original. I tried to peel it off but it is on there pretty good, doesn't easily come off.

I noticed mine peeling two days ago. VZW will not send replacements mine is 1 month old today

I consider it wear. It's just like a scratch or nick on the phone.
I wouldn't take my new car back to the dealer if I got a stone chip in the windshield or the paint from driving it....
That's how I look at it.

This isn't normal wear and tear. It's a defect. The phone isn't even two months old. Look at some of the pictures on this thread. I could understand if people were using harsh chemicals, or maybe putting their phones in the tanning bed with them. But they're not. It's happening for no reason.

Would you be ok if a month after you bought your brand new car your paint was all faded and clear coat chipping off? Even if it was just localized to a small area, such as the hood?

Mine is peeling slightly, at the end. I won't exchange over it. But it shouldn't be doing that.

I have mine chipping, I don't have to look at pictures.

I look at it as wear and tear, you look at it as a defect. Because of that, we won't see eye to eye. I'm fine with that.

It does not affect the use or function of my phone in any fashion.

One of these days, I'll chip it all off and polish it to look like chrome/mirror.
Until then...I'll just enjoy using this phone...it impresses me more each day.

Once mine starts peeling badly, I'll buff it off too. The same thing happened with the BlackBerry Tour. Paint was chipping off the keyboard buttons. I had that issues and later had to exchange for another reason. My replacement Tour never had the paint wear issue that my original did. And I had that one for two years.

The tour was a piece of garbage. That trackball was a joke.
I am so glad we stuck with the curve lineup instead of going to that Tour for work.
I looked at/tested the Tour when it released in July of 2009, build quality I thought was poop.
The bold was such a better replacement in every way.

Sorry to get off topic.

Created an account just to post a reply in this... Same thing has happened to the back of my Desire Z. It must be the same type of film. It's easy to scratch off. Kind of sucks, but I've ordered a new back for it off eBay to sell it off as I've replaced it with a Nexus S :)

Sickens...
Did you leave that phone "naked" in your pocket where keys/coins could've scratched that?
