does my phone have to be rooted prior to doing this? my phone currently has DL09 stock with nothing else. thank you.

just want to make sure because if you didnt completely disable lag fix and then flashed DL30, it could cause issues
That could be. I know at one point he said red was better and that the green one was no longer being developed, or something to that effect. But that may have changed with Froyo. Green, red, blue, I dunno. I got my phone to a point where it works, it's fast, it's rooted, and I moved the bloatware to my SD card, so I'm good.

I'm back again with the 'Non-Froyo" nightmare. Followed Adrenelyne's suggestions and was able to finally get into CWMred. I followed Cory's detailed instructions from page one and the process was flawless. Went to re-boot the phone and I'm still running 2.2.1
Needless to say, I am about to give up. Any other suggestions, gentlemen? I'm plumb out of ideas...

just an update on batt life:
unplugged at 10:00am on the dot with 99% and now at 59% at 8:18pm TX time. Made a few calls, a few texts, and general messing with the phone as Cory updated the list of new stuff FROYO added. I think the batt life is OK.
For those thinking the phone is running a bit hotter, I think it's the same effect as putting a custom exhaust on your car. You are just using it more; checking out the newness and "testing" it out more than usual.

What bloatware? Mine had none of the VZW apps and I actually use some of them. Did I miss something in the flash bc I have Froyo going but none of those VZ apps.
Also noticed that the voicemail button in the dialer isn't working. Any fix?
You said it was flawless, but did you look for errors or anything on the screen at step 22-23?
Yeah mine doesn't work either.
As for bloatware, mine came with zero VZW apps as well, which actually made me very happy. With the exception of My Verizon, I use none of them.
I put Allshare, Car Cradle, Desk Cradle & Media Hub in that category too.
No fix. Press and hold the 1 key instead is the workaround.
Edit: BTW the stuff I'm calling bloatware isn't really bloatware since it isn't stuff Verizon put in. I'm just saying I pretty much have my own superclean without flashing it.
car craddle and desk craddle are the only ways you can use the audio port on the docks as far as i know
agreed, there was def more bloatware with eclair than this leak. when I was looking for stuff to remove all I saw was allshare and thinkfreeoffice that I didn't want on there.
