No more Samsung screen when I Vol +,-, power reboot, just a screen with those 3 "phone, !, computer" icons. I can still get into download mode and connect with Odin. Tried to flash with DJ05. This time Odin made it to "Get PIT for mapping.." B4 it hung. It about 10mins, I expect my phone to shut down and Odin declaire "failed". Any ideas ???

Rebooting now! Thanks. Its kinda scary messing around with this phone when I don't really know what I'm doing, but I can't seem to leave it alone. Thanks for all the info on this site. If you can read you can have froyo.

I hear you. ODIN, the big yellow triangle, the various colored menus, the screen that turns black when you push the wrong button in clockworkmod, etc.. is all very intimidating, but the whole process only takes about 30 minutes :)

Try another computer if you have one

Did you disable AV as DroidXcon suggested?

It's very possible that you have some sort of security software blocking ODIN from doing its job.

Went ahead and disabled AVG, but still doing the 20min wait for the phone/Odin to come back failed with the DJ05 attempt I'm hung up in.
Just a shot in the dark, but since I can still get into d/l mode, is there a full system install/restore file I can try ???

This is a little radical, but if you have no security software enabled, no spare computer, uninstalled/reinstalled the Samsung drivers, restarted your computer, closed ODIN before you opened it again, and you have retried ODIN a few times, then I am going to suggest you try to flash the original/official DI01 package with ODIN as a first step and see if you can get anywhere with that.

P.S. take that thing out of download mode between each try. Meaning unplug it from your computer and do the hold the volume down and then plug it in routine. Don't use the same yellow triangle for each attempt at ODIN.

The normal email app has a tendency to force close, as for the market ive heard some people have problems some dont.

OK, thanks. Will try the origional DI01. Kind of scary, but if it helps, this time when Odin came bak "failed" after trying DJ05, it reported: "There is no PIT partion". I don't like the sound of that. Any thoughts???

I knew it couldn't be this easy. Nothing is working. Email force closes, google maps says I need a working data connection, the market won't open, and youtube says there is a problem opening. I followed the steps and thought everything was fine. What should I do?

Try:

1) Booting into recovery and do a clear cache
2) If that doesn't work try a Wipe Data/Factory Reset in recovery.

Did you have Voodoo installed before you started all of this?

Guys --
Finally got straightened out! Even though I was stock D09/unrooted, the trick seemed to be flashing D09 first.

A few other things I ended up doing, FWIW:
-- After my SD cards stopped working properly, I tried a mount/unmount on the phone. Once they mounted -- it took a while -- I did a reformatting from the phone. Then, I reformatted them from my desktop using Acronis Disk Director. I loaded ONLY the update and the D30 zips.
-- I did a factory reset AND a wipe cache every time I flashed *anything*
-- I put a fresh battery in (100%), even though the battery I had in was at 65%.

Many thanks to everyone for the tips. Now it's on to restoring everything manually, since the SD problems wiped out my backups... :-(

Yes, but turned off all lag fixes first. Am I sc***ed? Bricked? Have a new paper weight? Any thoughts???

My only knowledge of Voodoo is that it has caused nothing but problems for people, that's why I underline to remove it on the first page and then repeat myself again. That said, I don't know if "turning it off" is the same as completely uninstalling it, or maybe that's what you meant. Also my understanding is that the DI01 file I pointed you to was a full recovery that should get you out of this mess. I'm pretty sure the DL09 file is supposed to do the same. Have you tried DI01 yet?

just wondering if swype is still included in this release? I searched the thread, but keep finding people having to del the apk of swype, and trying to reinstall it? so wasnt sure if it was still in or not.

Wipe data/factory reset worked. Now I need to get my contacts and everything else in order. Thanks again!

Good news (I think)! Changed to an old laptop I had laying around. The DI01 download seems to be working now. Have NO idea why changing computers seems to be the answer. But if all goes well, and I'm back at origional DI01 Factory Stock in a few minutes. What will be my best path to DL30 ???
