I wanted to first and foremost thank you so much, your advice was extremely helpful from this forum, and while i had to wipe my phone after i installed 2.2 (i think i had voodoo downloaded and didnt know it because i got the force close loop) my phone is now working perfectly. One quick question i had, when the actual 2.2 OTA comes, what should i do? will my phone get it, should i update again? my phone is rooted as well. Thanks

You're welcome, and I'm glad it worked out. Most likely we will need to flash the DL09 file that's in post 4 of this thread and we should be good from there.

Edit: read it again. I referenced the wrong posts/threads.

Ok that works, just making sure. And one more quick question, were you having trouble running flash 10.1. I installed it from the app market, however when i go to play videos it says i still need to install it. Any thoughts?

dz, succeed0/ failed 0 is a connection problem...... Odin problems are usually a communication fault or a corrupt file , but 95% of the time communication...first redownload the odin package you are using...disable any anti-virus,,, use ports in the back of the computer, if you are already using a usb port in the back, switch it to another port as you most likely have more than one... make sure your battery is out of the phone during the entire Odin process.....
there should be only 1 yellow com port shown ,,if there is more than one for lets say a printer that it is connecting, Odin may be flashing onto the printer instead of the phone, so i suggest you remove any devices that may be causing this....if this computer isnt working use another....if you are using a laptop make sure its plugged in,,,but a PC is better to use
Thanks so much, 2 days frustration so far. I was just trying to mount card and could not, possible PC driver issue. I've installed sammy drivers, will try again, along with your other suggestions.

Whussian, I to wanted the leaked froyo build but not at the cost of official vzw 2.2 OTA. I decided to flash back to stock DL09 thru odin. I then downloaded the official EA28 OTS. I then made a back up of DL09-EA28 and saved it. I then downloaded the DL30 leak and flashed it. I am now on froyo leak DL30 and will flash back to DL09-EA28 when the time comes for official 2.2 OTA. That was my solution and is easy to do. The re are threads on making back ups posted in the forums both here and at XDA and for repetition sake I will refer you to those. I am not a dev and Im sure there are better ways to do it but that was my way and it worked perfectly when DL09 was released. Good luck. If you have anymore questions just post em and one or more of the advisors here will be more than willing to help you, as they have helped me more times than I can remember.

My job pushes security settings in order to use exchange email. Specifically it requires that I create a PIN. When I enter the PIN, I am unable to select continue. Anyone else having issues like this?

Thanks to Cory and everybody else at AC!

I loaded 2.2 yesterday according to updated instructions. Was at version DL09, not rooted. All went smoothly. Easy to follow directions. Didn't clear cache and it still went well. I finally have the snappiness the Fascinate should have had from the beginning. Lag is gone. No other issues so far.
Did DL30 change the file partitions from RFS to EXT4 (as Voodoo did) or will Voodoo bring any further improvements to DL30?

Ta-Da! You guys are the best. Seems it was the front USB port: stuck a flash drive in and it would not mount. Switched to back, mounted. Put cable from Fascinate in back & started Odin: Eureaka! Flash DL09.tar.md5 successful. Phone saved. I'm trying to avoid a string of expletive enhanced thanks. Best dang online support EVER and I've done a zillion at work. Can't praise and thank you all enough.

I'm happy to hear things went well and smoothly. I don't know the answer to your question regarding partitions, but unless there's been a recent development, Voodoo doesn't work yet. Voodoo makes my skin curl every time I hear it. Nothing but issues with it from day 1 in these forums. I'm not sure how much faster this phone can get anyway.

Newb Questions

With instructions this detailed, I finally feel comfortable taking the dive into this. Thanks!

A few questions first:

1. You say DL09 is needed. Is EA28 ok?
2. How can I keep from losing important stuff that is on my phone now?
- Contacts?
- Paid apps?
- App save data (Angry Birds progress)?

Try titanium backup for your app data. You can pick and choose the apps you want to restore after you update to dl30. Paid apps are also saved in the market. I didn't have a problem with contacts at all, but I would just use your backup assistant before you flash.

If you can't get the pin feature working; it might be a limitation of this leak. If the you are forced to use pins, I would look at the Touchdown email client as an alternative. Even if you get past the pin problem, there's another nasty bug related to Exchange in post 3. Most people that use Touchdown, myself included, never turn back after using it.

Yes to question 1. If you're syncing with Gmail you don't need to backup contacts. If not, the native contacts appear has an option for backing up contacts. As stated above paid apps will show up in your my download section of the market after you sign in to Gmail; if you want to sync free & paid apps, download, install, and sync with appbrain. If you're rooted you can backup data with Titanium, but my personal experience at restoring data hasn't been great. I have found reconfiguring my apps to be a less frustrating experience.

Okay - I love VM's too, but I would use a real PC for this, since you have one. Just download DL09.tar.md5 and flash with ODIN. If you need more specific instructions go here. If this works, proceed to step 2 in post 1. If I misunderstood you, and all you have are VM's, you might be able to do it, but I've never tried using ODIN inside a VM.
THANK YOU! All better now, phone saved!!! After your great guides and DroidXcon's solid hardware troubleshooting it all came together. Might want to add the bits about go hardware only PC if trouble with VM's (yea, I know, common sense, but when I had same issue on hardware it threw me) and using backside MB USB ports to get phone to show up in Odin to your guide(s). Maybe save some cries for help from ID10t's like me ;)

DL09 in, DL30 next. Don't know if you saw my other reply of thanks to both you and DroidXcon. You are the best. Best dang online support EVER!!!!!!!!!!

You 'Da Man!

Thanks. Is that problem only limited to exchange accounts? My hotmail and yahoo accounts seem to be working fine. And I really like the email client on this Froyo. I kinda hate to pay for an email app.

I've read a few posts in this thread about force closes in the email client (outside of Exchange). TD offers a 30-day free trial. I would hope we'd have Froyo by then. RoadSync, another option, is half the prices and has a trial as well (not sure how long it is. I use RoadSync for my secondary Exchange account, and although it's much more basic, it works well also. I'm not sure if RS supports Pin's nor not.
