Ea28?

Has anyone done this from stock EA28 (the latest release that fixed the emergency call issue)???

I have never rooted or done anything with this phone but really want FroYo and I am leaning toward doing this

I did everything down to rooting works

I followed DroidXcon's steps and I got reflashed everything with green CWM. I'm just wondering if it's always supposed to boot back into standard blue and do I need to keep update.zip and the new cwm zips on my sdcard or is it supposed to be permanently flashed in? this is my first time flashing a ROM so it's all been a crash course.

I would use the update.zip from corys directions and flash cwm_froyo via odin both from post #1 of this thread and yes you need update.zip..boots blue then apply update.zip to get to red froyo clockwork

I know its in here somewhere but the thread is getting pretty big. I cannot get my PC to recognize the phone. I installed the Samsung USB drivers. When i plug my phone in sometimes it shows up as a CD drive. If I "mount" the SD card on the phone it shows as a removable (G in my case) but when I double click it says insert disk into G. When I turn on USB debugging it does the exact same thing. Is the only purpose of connecting to get the files listed in post #1 onto the SD card? If that is the case I can get them on there without being hooked to the PC.

I do need Odin though... and I haven't installed that yet to see if Odin will recognize the phone.

Thoughts?

I believe thats the only purpose for the initial connection, so you can use an SD adaptor instead. when you connect using Odin, you'll hold down the volume button and connect the USB which will trigger Odin to recognize your phone. Remember this is done with no battery installed.

Help, I'm stuck! I followed steps 1-13 in Post 1 to a tee, clicked the start button, then got a big FAIL! message. (Below is a screen shot of what I have.) My device is still showing the yellow triangle and says downloading. I have not unplugged it, awaiting instructions.

In debugging mode...plug your phone in and while still plugged in restart the phone

Shut off anti virus...plug into the back of the pc. If already plugged in change to another port...make sure battery is out...n...you have too devices connected according to that picture..disconnect whatever else is plugged in causeing that

Thanks! Appeared to be the iPad dock that was screwing things up. (Ironic, huh?)

But new problem: I got through step 19, selected apply "sdcard:update.zip" and I get the following message:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to seek in /sdcard/update.zip (Invalid argument)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

I've tried it a couple of times and get the same thing again...

What file did you use when flashing odin

I used the files from the links/downloads in the first post (current as of an hour ago):
update.zip

cwm_froyo.tar
attached.zip

need usb-odin help

Used "Cory's" method (Mac OS X Terminal) to root but trying to get back to stock factory DI01 to move to DL30. No luck now due to USB won't show phone in download mode. Tried all sorts of crap in Mac and Windows. Odin can't see phone. So did cache & data wipe, factory reset from recovery mode (don't know how I even got there). Now Fascinate boots to totally different screen so def. got rid of a lot of stuff. But it gets FC on android.process.media... and TwLauncher over and over, unusable. CAN mount phone from USB in regular mode and can see the root pieces still there: su, busybox, rage, TwLauncher...
Can I try deleting those pieces from there? Or other suggestions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Edit: Oops, can only mount SD card, not phone :(

Make sure the update.zip is on your sd card not in any folders and that it over writes any old one you may have had

Reflash cwm_froyo with odin..this time don't let the phone boot regular go directly to recovery after flashing
Nope, it's not. I've even tried recopying it to another SD card. Still no luck.

Any ideas?
