LG fans, do you feel betrayed by the V30 rumors?

Re: The V30 is coming soon, what will it need to be successful?

The beauty of Android is people can use how much of the features in a phone that best fits them. It isn't about how much what "minority" or "majority" uses. What LG wants is enough people to buy and like, no matter how much features each person chooses to use...

Re: The V30 is coming soon, what will it need to be successful?

I guarantee you that the majority of V20 owners barely touch any of the unique features of the device.

Guarantee with actual facts and studies or just your general opinion?

Re: The V30 is coming soon, what will it need to be successful?

Some facts, some opinion based on common sense.
Ah k. I was just curious since you seem to say "fact" a lot when you really are talking about your opinion.

Well, they are facts. I just can't support them too well outside of anecdotal evidence. I don't know anybody that wants to edit audio on their phone. I don't know anybody that would want to connect a mic to a phone. I don't know anybody that cares about wide angle lenses. The fact of the matter is that LG has been putting their time and effort into features very few people care about and their sales show that. You guys act like LG isn't to blame for their poor sales, but that isn't true. LG is where they are because very few people want what they offer.

Yes so you don't know anyone but that doesn't mean it's a fact no one else in the US does just because a few people you know don't like it. That isn't even close to a fair scale so.. it's your opinion. Not a fact.

Re: The V30 is coming soon, what will it need to be successful?

I definitely fall into the category of people who didn't feel the need for a wide angle lense.

I was wrong. Now that I have the G6 in my fleet, I'd almost say the wide angle camera is a must.

People don't know what they don't know. Wide angle is a great feature.

Re: The V30 is coming soon, what will it need to be successful?

No one has absolved (aka to make blameless in this context) LG for their own shortcomings in their inability to sell enough phones. Most arguments I've seen here are balanced, except for the peanut gallery ****ting over LG (always find that one of that everywhere for all brands).

Those of us who followed mobile tech long enough knew when Samsung and LG were making lots of utter garbage for mobile handsets. Samsung via half-innovation (redefining phablets with the Note) and half copying (using some of Apple's strategies) has built itself up really well recently.

For me, what LG has to do is present a series of offerings that are reliable, easier to use, nicely looking and not only do the good stuff well, but can turn a gimmick feature into a must-have. Hopefully, the V30 can start that conversation. What worries me is if they do that **** with the G6 by fragmenting features regionally and put the good stuff only in one packet for the V30+.

Re: The V30 is coming soon, what will it need to be successful?

I have the same worries about the V30 Plus. Here in Europe, the crippled G6 we got was highly criticised and a lot of former LG fans were super angry and didn't buy it. We were meant to pay the same price as anybody else in the world, without getting any of the unique features. This was the most stupid decision LG could make, especially for a phone with last years SOC. Building unique features into the phone would have been a must, to advertise and sell a phone with last years SOC.

Now people are angry at LG and they've seen the G6' price almost cutted in half after 3 months. They won't be willing to buy a crippled and high priced V30. Either we get the V30 Plus or LGs death in Europes smartphone market is one step closer.

Right. LG's poor sales are just a coincidence. Go up to an average person on the street and ask them if they care about being able to do hardcore video editing on their phone. The answer will be "no" 99 times out of 100. Only 41% of smartphone users listen to music or podcasts on their phone and far less people care about video editing or second screens or any of that nonsense. People voted with their wallets.

The idea that "if people use it then they will like it" is completely irrelevant. People don't buy phones for features they may like eventually, but don't care about now.

Sales don't always have to do with features being used. If we went off sales alone we should all being using iPhones since obviously everything else is bad.

Do you have studies to show your 99 times out of 100? Doubtful so you're speculating the answer based on your opinion..therefore it isn't a fact. You're just going off your opinions as if they are.

They may be to you.. but they aren't to us. Sorry.

Your posts sound more like "I can't prove it but I know it's true". Fact is you can't tie low sales to anything definitive or objective. The only thing we know for certain is that LGs sales figures are quite low but that could for a number of reasons. That also goes for all of the other lower tier brands.

Apple and Samsung are obviously on top at the moment, but that wasn't always the case for Samsung. Samsung became aggressive and did some innovative things and it worked for them. Both companies drop big bucks in advertising and that certainly helps.

The problem with being on top is that is always out there to steal your lunch.

These are phones. They live and die based on the features they offer and the price they offer them at. The fact of the matter is that their sales are a reflection of their product. Flagship specs are usually essentially the same. The difference is the design and features.

My opinions are based on real life. Nobody in my family uses their phones like LG wants them to. Nobody. Not my parents. Not my grandparents. Not my brother. Not my nieces. Not my friends. Nobody. I have seen no evidence that contradicts my belief. Surveys don't show that people use their phones in the way that LG would like you to. Sales for LGs are poor. Put all the evidence together and there is no other conclusion than the one I have come to.

What you are presenting here is not objective evidence. The only accurate statement you make is that LG has poor sales. The rest is all banter at best.

Yes -- Your opinions are based on real life. That is fine and dandy. I am glad we agree on that point :).

I was simply saying they aren't "facts" as you like to call them just because you believe them. If that were the case everyone would have facts since most people are going to believe their own opinion ;).

Pull what evidence? That fact that your family doesn't have it so I have to come the conclusion you came to? Sorry.. No lol.

That is great no one in your family uses LG. I have multiple friends that do use LG and one of them is on my Verizon plan (he has a V20) so as you can see everyone can see varying things when it comes down to phone choices.

Use some common sense here. Not everything requires objective evidence --- the evidence required is proportional to the claim. The claim that a poor selling phone is selling poorly because of its features in an industry where features are what separate one phone from another requires little to no evidence aside from the sales.

I never said I don't know anybody that has an LG. I said they don't use the features that make LG different. My roommate has an LG. I've had several friends that have LGs. None of them use their phones for video editing or any of that stuff.
