LG G2: Touch Screen Issues?

Re: G2 Touch Screen Issues?

Went to VZW today, they said unless they could duplicate the problem I couldn't swap phones and the warranty wouldn't cover it even though I had 10+ examples using Quick Memo. They blamed it on Nova launcher -_-

Gotta love those VZW in-store customer service folks. :)

First off, it doesn't much matter what's wrong with your device, if the VZW folks see anything "non-standard", they punt.
Secondly, this is a tough software defect to trigger on a reliable basis. This is probably how it got through LG and VZW testing initially.

You may be in the same boat with the rest of us, hoping that an upcoming LG/VZW release will address this issue.

Re: G2 Touch Screen Issues?

Yeah but why give them an excuse, at least keep it stock looking when taking it in with a complain.
Its like pc vendor rejecting service because you upgraded your OS and they deny warranty when your USB port is not working.

Re: G2 Touch Screen Issues?

Well if you're really dedicated, you could try to get the problem to surface, then set the screen to not turn off in settings, plug the phone in in your car (to keep the thing charged), drive to the Verizon store, and show them the problem. Guarantees the problem will be there when showing them. Also might be wise to set the launcher back to original just so they won't b#%*h (settings->home screen).

That being said, seems like replacement phones haven't helped for people anyway so not sure if there's much use...

Re: G2 Touch Screen Issues?

There is a new OS update for VZW G2's.

The change log lists "bug fixes". We can only hope that VZW addressed this issue. The first G2 owner to report over on my XDA thread said that he/she had the update for a day and uncharacteristically did not see this defect surface.

Of course, we'd have to wait some number of weeks before we can say conclusively that this defect was addressed, given the wildly random behavior of this defect.

Here's hoping! Would make for a nice Holiday gift!

Re: G2 Touch Screen Issues?

24 hours now. No erratic touchscreen behavior yet.

Need to keep this going!

Report in if you are a VZW G2 owners who has noticed this defect in the past.

Re: G2 Touch Screen Issues?

Can some of the people who have this problem report if it's fixed with their recent update?

Re: G2 Touch Screen Issues?

Happy to report that I am seeing no issue as of 2 days post OTA update.

This is excellent news! But, it's hardly conclusive, as history as shown that it can take hours, days, weeks for this defect to surface.

I am hopeful though!

Re: G2 Touch Screen Issues?

Day three is done - absolutely no issues observed.

Any other VZW G2 owners here want to weigh-in?

I posted today over at XDA here.

Merry Christmas!!

Same here. Phone is working perfectly now. No glitches, much smoother operation.

Re: G2 Touch Screen Issues?

Here too, no problems yet! Battery life seems to be a little less, maybe its because I don't have to turn off the screen and stop using it for a few minutes for it to stop freaking out :-)

Re: G2 Touch Screen Issues?

Nope. There has not been an update for my device. If the Verizon users update fixes there's I'm keeping my device. What about you?

I don't have one atm. Got rid of mine because of this but wanted to get a new one.

I refuse to if it isn't working after the update.

Well I guess we have to wait and see if tmobile finds a way to fix it via an update or wait on lg. If there is no fix by the time kit kat comes I guess I have to part ways with my device
