LG G3 and Cyanogenmod 12

How much of a stock UI is it? One thing I hate about the G3 is the **** poor dialler app. My N5 one was much nicer (including Google searched results for numbers not in my phone book) and I'd love to get something like that back.

I wasn't crazy about the LG dialer either and one thing I missed about stock was the dialer. CM provides the look up feature that is so useful with the stock dialer. I think it's so much better than it was when I got the phone.

Great thanks. I'll give it a whirl. What could possibly go wrong?!?!

I would like to give this a try but I've never done more than root my phone. Can anyone recommend a good guide for flashing a custom ROM?

There is a guy on YouTube that i watched and it walked me through how to flash everything. His channel is "eric4mobile". Go check out his guide on rooting and how to flash a custom recovery, and then how to flash a custom ROM. Very helpful!

Thanks! Although from what I've been seeing I may wait a little bit.

It can be a stressful thing, flashing a phone. Nothing wrong with deciding to wait. But I do continue to be thrilled with Cyanogenmod on my G3.

Which nightly are you using? I was reading about some significant Bluetooth and camera issues.

I'm using the 2-09 nightly, the most recent notification I've received. I'm not very comfortable with flashing but this has been pain free and very stable. The WiFi has seemed somewhat slow to connect at times but it has always connected for me. I don't use Bluetooth so I can't speak to it. But it has easily been daily driver status for me.

It's worth the effort and temporary learning curve. The options and extra features are simply wonderful!

I did the exact same thing two days ago.. It's great.. So glad I don't have to look at those ugly lg skins

I hadn't flashed any roms for over 2 years with my galaxy nexus. I basically discovered that stock firmware was ample so long as I had root and xposed framework .

However being on Verizon and impatiently awaiting lollipop I decided to go the rom route. Been on illusion 4.0 for some time, preparing to try out illusion 5.0.

There have been some changes though. I didn't realize that with certain paranoid android gapps that you cant just flash whichever package you want. And that root is enabled from developer options. And also too, I noticed that when I did a full backup in twrp, the size was like over 2 gigs, and when I restored it, my call logs, messages, and home screen setups, none of that was included even though I had all the right boxes checked.

anyway, I think its great that we can tinker with LG. I sure as heck would rather have a Motorola Droid Turbo but it aint ever getting root. And if it wasn't for Verizon unlimited data, i'd buy a Motorola maxx and use it on atnt. lol.

Good to see other people digging the ROM scene, I went ahead and flashed Resurrection Remix yesterday afternoon, which is based on CM12, and am so glad I did. Just getting rid of the Verizon bloat alone made it worth it.

The only issue I've had so far has been with installing Tasker, I get a 505 error which I can't seem to rectify. According to Google searches it usually has to do with their being a previous version installed, but this isn't the case here as I started with a clean wipe.

I haven't tried any others yet but I'm loving Resurrection anyway. I also managed to fix my Tasker install issue, utter was conflicting with it, uninstalling utter took care of the issue.

On the subject of the camera app, now that the G3 has some official lollipop builds available I'm wondering if it would be possible to extract the camera app for use on custom ROM's?
