LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: Terrible battery life (H815, 6.0 Marshmellow)

Thank you for replying. I had recorded a 2 minute video that Google Photos would have uploaded (and I put it on Facebook, too) but I imagine that wouldn't have used 2GB? I wonder if that's wrong, as I changed my data usage cycle to yesterday (the day of the screen grabs, as it is now 1am) and it is only showing "Youtube - 575 MB" (my dinner at work) and "Google Services - 298 MB".

Could that be an error with GSam?

I guess it could be an error in GSAM but for me GSAM seems accurate.

What about mobile data graph in system settings? Do you see a 2gb spike there?

Oh and that data use is listed under system and not app data. To me it looks like a syncing issue, probably with photos.

Not that I can see:

I think that's a bug with GSAM? I don't know. I'll change my Google Photos settings to only sync on Wifi though

Re: Terrible battery life (H815, 6.0 Marshmellow)

That's usually the case, but I can't think why! I'll try it without Google Photos sync, although I don't take too many photos to be draining it.

Are there any more steps I can take to fix cell radio? My signal isn't necessarily bad day-to-day, with no issues being on 4G etc.

It's not necessarily that there is a lot to upload but sometimes Google apps and services get stuck in an sync cycle and just endlessly seem to want to use data until they are stopped.

I was having issues with battery and couldn't pinpoint what was draining it. Factory reset fixed it.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

I had problems with my G4,

My solution was to get rid of facebook app and the facebook messenger app, after that my battery stats improved drastically.

Just use the browser to use facebook

Definitely this. They are two awful apps for hogging battery.

Had same problem in UK. Had to do the good old Android factory reset. Seems to have sorted it.

I did one but I might try another. Took around 5 resets before Lollipop behaved.

I may have to try this out! Of course, Sprint is pushing Marshmallow to the G4 now, so I may see if it improves any with Doze.

They say that you are supposed to do a factory reset after a software update. I hate that, but it seems to be true.

Re: Terrible battery life (H815, 6.0 Marshmellow)

The main culprit is marshmallow. It just doesnt work like its meant to.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

Marshmallow makes everything worse. Avoid upgrading at all costs. You lose screen on time. Just avoid it

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

I have a VzW version and can drag the slider when Auto Brightness is checked...and also found it didn't seem to do anything. I didn't change locations while doing it to really test it out, but I dragged the slider from end to end and it made no noticable difference at all. The "baseline" regardless is just too dark.

I now have Lux doing the work, and doing it well, but Brightness and the touch sensitivity (SGS Touchscreen Booster) aren't really things I feel I should have to have a 3rd party app control.

The good news is that I would suspect some of these things can be fixed, or at least improved, via a software update.

I have had it on auto brightness and you can slide it back and forth from "darker to brighter" auto brightness on VZW. It makes a big difference whether you can see the screen or not. I feel that it uses more battery on auto brightness then it does when I have it only on 50% also.

Hello guys, how can you check the SCREEN ONTIME of an G4? All I can see is the batterry usage. Please help because I want to monitor per charge screen usage. Thank you.

Go to Settings --> Battery & power saving, and tap on Battery usage. Scroll down until you see the percentage of the battery that the screen has used (it should be the top item in the list) and tap on that. That will show you your "Time on".
