Given this is my first non-Nexus device in about 5 years now, and also my first carrier device in about 4 years, I will most likely be rooting to 1) gain access to Xposed, and 2) rid myself of carrier crap (call me ignorant, but since when do they shove even non-AT&T things on my phone which I can't disable and remove? Facebook? Seriously? I've never even HAD a facebook account in my entire life! Twitter? Well, I use it, but I use Fenix for it. Get off of my phone, damn it!)

My phone is naked until I find a nice rubber bumper that does not cover up the look and feel of my beautiful brown leather back.

^^^Well I've never been quite sure of the correct terminology of these things. I guess I've been using the wrong term.

Well now I feel sorry for my gf. I'm the gf who has both a large number of shoes (I collect Chucks and also have several pair of hiking sandals/boots, gym shoes, etc) AND I change devices about twice a year!

Anyone have any online sources other than ebay that sells the leather backs?
Im desperate to get this plastic back off & try out the red or tanned leather.

Only if they ever let me root my T-Mobile version.

Last year the T-Mobile version was the only one that had an unlocked bootloader out of the box. I hope they did the same this year!

Definitely not unlocked and definitely not unlock-able yet. Only the European H815 version is unlock-able as far as I know.

I'm not sure if I'll root mine. I had stopped rooting for about a year until I got my G3, then I rooted and ran Cloudy's ROM, which was based on the international variant and ran better. I also started using Xposed for the first time, which was fun. I ran a couple of CM based Roms but quickly discovered that they hampered the camera, so I always went back to a LG rom because having the camera perform well was important to me.

Yes, I am probably going to. Aside from clearing out bloatware, I need to find a way to enable my wireless hotspot.

I haven't rooted in awhile. I don't think I will be on any phone any time soon.

Honestly the only thing I could use root for is to change my Samsung emoji to Google -- that would be it though lol.

Mobile Fun has them up for pre-order for $50 last time i checked. LG might start selling official ones soon.

You can with root access .. I believe LG would be the same. Once rooted this app will let you change it.

Yes,I've rooted every one I've had. Control of what my phone does is important for me. I once was a crack flasher but have held back the past 2 years. I wish we didn't have to take these steps to have the control it gives you.

I never use cases on the over 20 phones I've had and never will. I will occasionally see a nice one buy it, use it for a day and then give it away
