LG G4 H815 Android Marshmallow update rollout and initial impressions

How much RAM does MM use ?

This much

Don't let it scare you too much, though. That's how Android manages memory (hence, why I discourage anyone from using RAM cleaners like Clean Master, which is junk). LG UX is also a pretty heavy skin. I haven't had any slowdowns and only a few apps reloaded.

Did LG fix the issue of photo orientation issue with its camera app? When I take photos in portrait I have to rotate it afterwards. Uploading to apps show that its been rotated when its not.

When is the US version going to get "M" love?

Also who ever at Google that decided to remove silent mode from the volume controls should be fired and the entire chain of testers that didn't speak up about how stupid of an idea that was.

Technically it's not "broken," as it's been designed this way. From my understanding, it's how the new Android programming sets orientation. Instead of the software rotating the pixels themselves for orientation, it now sets orientation as part of the EXIF data. A lot of other apps, websites, etc, don't know to read that new entry yet, so they don't know the image is supposed to be rotated. The G4 isn't the only phone that's doing this now, and my guess is things will be ironed out as developers update their programming.

WHERE IS MY UPDATE!!!!!! DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

/rant

......sorry, just had to vent a little :)

Your update lol. Let's hope the updates don't break your phones lol

I was just over on XDA reading a thread about modding a couple files to enable 1080p@60fps video and looks like that may not work on M. :p

But seriously, I'm quite surprised that wasn't a stock option.

I'm an H815 user as well. No software update available.

Hello, just joined the forum.

Strange one for me. Been using my G4 for a while. I connected it to LG Bridge yesterday, and was told about an update available. I didn't do it then, thinking that I've got more time during Saturday, but now when I request the update with the phone plugged in, it tells me phone is up to date.

We should form a club. "People with European G4's that still haven't got the the update, despite the news". lol

First of all, welcome to the Forums!
Have you manually checked on your phone for an update? Or checked if your phone didn't update itself while you were sleeping? Remember you won't actually notice a considerable change in the looks of Marshmallow compared to Lollipop.
If you did all of that and you still have 5.1 and the LG Bridge telling you your phone is "up to date"...I have no idea what happened. But hey, you're welcome to join the club of us people still waiting for it for some reason :P

Welcome to the forums!

That's a really odd one. Maybe it just decided to troll you?

It's certainly odd. Anyway thanks for the friendly replies.

With the LG G4, there's a hidden feature called access lock which lets you turn on or off any permission for all the 3rd party apps.
Can you guys please check if it's still available in MM?

That's what I'm looking forward to most in Marshmallow. Too bad I'm on TMO so will still take a looooong time.

Im looking forward to the Silence option coming back. Nice and easy lol
