lg optimus s

Its not a paper weight yet, you can still access recovery. When you installed the drovers did you have the phone connected or did you connect and let windows auto install the drivers?

I downloaded everything but the only problem is the computer doesn't recognize the cell phone

Did you get into emergency mode? Make sure you have the drivers installed.

I had the phone connected but when I went in to computer it shows external storage unit but when you click on it it says insert external storage. The computer doesn't recognize it

tried to reinstall drivers with phone hooked up and installed everything but LGE Android Platform USB Modem and said please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance on installing this

Try it again with the phone disconnected, its been a while but I think that's what I had to do. But make sure you remove what did get installed first

Hello again, I'm still trying to get this Optimus s to work. I can't get the pc to recognize the phone, so I used my sd card reader and downloaded a rom and it went through all the normal stuff and said download complete enjoy. Well all it did was go to lg logo and back to the android system recovery.I am about to give up unless there is some way of getting this fixed. I appreciate all the help you guys have given me, just wanted to see if anyone has any other ideas.
thank you

Sorry, late in the game but have you tried accessing by ADB yet when it boots into recovery?

No I haven't, do you think with that downloaded to the computer it might be able to recognize the optimus?

The custom ROM will not do anything for you until you have a custom recovery installed with which to flash it. If you have not had drivers and the connection confirmed working before on the Windoze box, you may be better off setting up the SDK and ADB on a Linux box and connecting that way. If you are still running stock, then you will probably have to use a stock update.zip first.

I would setup ubuntu live then download a custom rom and use adb and while in recovery manually flash the rom once you get into android. Download and flash drew's cwmT recovery I just had a bad experience with the recovery you got
I least that's what I would try of you can get into recovery your not bricked just confused
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FLASH ANOTHER RECOVERY UNTIL AFTER YOU GET BACK INTO ANDROID OR YOU WILL HAVE A BUILDING BLOCK!

You are stuck in recovery on boot, yes? Just install the ZVD update.zip...

Follow the ZVD downgrade now available...
