lgk7 help cant open apks

"Hello so i have a lgk7 and when i try to open an apk and it always gives me a cannot open file or a this file type not supported I have tried es file explorer but it does not work everything i try there is no package installer in my phone do I have to flash a new rom to my k7 if I do how do i do it thanks"

Welcome to the forum. I know you've been asking, sorry it took a while. Have you set permission to sideload apps? See this, as ES File Ex. should be able to access those files.

How to Allow App installation from APK files in LG Android devices:

In your LG Android device go to Settings.
In the General Settings go to Security under Personal.
In security settings page under the Phone administration you can find Unknown Sources (Allow Installation of Apps other than Play Store) – Tick it or Select it.
When you are Selecting the above option a Pop up box will appear warning from doing so which should be closed by clicking on OK or Cancel.
And below that you can find Verify Source (Disallow or warn before installation of apps which can cause harm) – Untick or Deselect this.

Okay, are you sure the apk is compatible with your phone? The question mark showing is obvious your phone doesn't know what to do with it, as you've said. Just really strange as once you have the apk in storage it should be recognized. Have you tried to remove the ES File Explorer and download a different file manage from the Play store. I would think you should have one included in your OS, but not that up on current LG phones. Hopefully one of the LG gurus will chime in also.

yes i have tried msny file explorers and all of them say cant open apk. It is compatible with my phone. I have downlaoded apks before

I have the EXACT same issue that you have, my phone used to open and install apks for the first 3 months after i got it then i rooted my phone and 4 days after i rooted it it wouldnt let me install apks anymore. I got the file type not supported message no matter what app i used or what permissions i allowed it just wont work.
