[LINK][ROM]CM7 Thunderbolt.RC1.4 + 1.5.2 Updated 8/6/11

2. leave GPS running on you phone and make a nandroid. after nandroid is done. restore one of you older nandroids that you know for a fact has working nav, when you restore it, turn on NAV and GPS. then go into ROMmanager and restore the nandroid you just made of this. that also, should allow you to use your nav and gps...

I did this and the GPS now works like a champ! Thanks guys! Those of you having issues with GPS should follow the steps above. It takes about a half hour and well worth it. Hope this helps other people out.

As a matter of interest, what does it take for the Thunderbolt to be added to CM as a supported device? Just wondering if we will ever see that. They seem to have a huge range of phones they support, even just within HTC.
Anyone know?

The reason it hasn't been added as an OFFICIAL device for cyanogenMod is becuase freaking HTC wont release the RIL code, so it is taking them longer to decode and rebiuld.... RIL: 1. (n.) Radio Interface Layer. Its a large amount of pretty basic code that essentially helps software in need of network access communicate with the radio hardware itself. I'm paraphrasing here, but the process is something along the lines of: An application needs some kind of network usage --> the main phone application --> RIL --> two different RILs, the latter of which sends the signal out to the tower. Its sort of like the kernel of the radio.
1u. CM7's RIL is currently being worked on; when it's complete, CM7 should be headed towards its first official Thunderbolt release!

SWEET! Has anyone tried this yet? The changelog doesn't seem to be too long.
not yet. but I will UPDATE AND COMBINE 1.4 and 1.5 into this thread in a few mins :) good looking out

Re: [LINK][ROM]CM7 Thunderbolt.RC1.4 + 1.5 Updated 8/6/11

Just combined both 1.4 and 1.5 in the op.... Now we are a 'one stop shop' ;) good luck and happy flashing

With RC 1.4, call volume was low and I used the Tiamat kernel to improve call volume. Now, the call volume with the stock kernel is much improved.

Re: [LINK][ROM]CM7 Thunderbolt.RC1.4 + 1.5 Updated 8/6/11

Part of my upgrade process this time and into the future will be to get a GPS lock with the Navigation app... then do my backup, clear cache and Dalvik cache, then upgrade... hopefully that will fix any GPS issues... either I'm going to do that late tonight or tomorrow morning.

GPS stopped working after flashing RC 1.5. Everything was fine after employing of the usual workaround of restoring a Sense ROM and getting a GPS lock first.

generally what I do is leave GPS on and then flash 1.5 without full wipe over 1.4... i don't recommend but thats just me.. and it works

1.5.2 is now up and live at roots wiki, I will update as soon as I am at my computer it is fixing the gps issue for everybody

Looks like 1.5.2 does indeed fix the GPS issue. I now get a lock almost instantly!

GPS locks quickly on 1.5.2. Along with the improved call volume using the stock kernel, looks like CM7 could be a great daily driver for me.
