So i realize that with the amount great guides, Walk through's, How-to's, and popular threads its not practical to sticky all of them, even if most if not all of them are on caliber to be stickied.

This is my attempt to consolidate, and assemble the information in one place so its easier to find thus cutting down on forum clutter and repetitive questions.

Here we go!

First off, I want to thank you igotsanevo4g! You've put in a lot of time and effort into the EVO root/flash/hack forum.

I'm a noob as you can see. I've rooted my EVO via the unrEVOked method. I basically did this in the hopes of removing all the bullsh...I mean bloat that sprint put on my phone. So far so good on that. What I am really interested in is UNDERCLOCKING my phone. I've read up on setcpu and seems like a good idea/investment as I am not an extremely heavy user and my phone is on standby most of the time. I'm currently using aftermarket 1800 mAh batteries and average 18-26 hours on each charge (depends on usage). I'm a HUGE fan of the sense UI and the widgets so I'm not hot on CM7 or any other popular ROMs.

My question to you today sir, is if I utilize setcpu on my phone will it disrupt or hinder any of the widgets or the stock sense UI ROM?

My question for everyone is that once you're rooted have any of you guys lost the visual voicemail feature? I am currently using cynagen 7 if that helps with 2.3.3. Any help would be appreciated.

No, u don't lose any stock apps by rooting alone. Im sure not every rom includes it though. Did u lose it when u flashed cynagen?

I read somewhere that if you root with unrevoked 3, you had to have used unrevoked forever first, which didn't make any sense to me. I'm rooted on the Evo with U3 and everything's working fine. What's the difference between these 2 methods, and does one have an advantage over the other?

Another question I have is what is the pc36img file used for? I deleted it by accident and I'm hoping it doesn't cause any problems later if I need to unroot.

Ok, first question answered. Hopefully I'll never have to unroot. Is the pc36img folder required to unroot?

To update your rom, just download and flash the newest one. Instructions on the devs page.

To update once and ota is pushed from sprint, just check here and you can find it packaged in rom form for you to wipe and flash.

Simple as cake.

Dumb I Know

I've followed the sticky guide to doing just about everything... But Once I had my evo rooted I used rom manager for everything, and got complacent. So to the point. How Do I place the PC36IMG.zip to the root/top-level directory of your SD card? I'm stuck. I don't know what file to put it in. so i can get it to install and back to stock (for repairs.) all ready have s-on. using the latest version of clockwork.

Please help brothers and sisters!
