Lost gallery camera pics

Hello everyone, please i need your help, somehow i lost ONLY the camera pictures on my phone, even the videos are still there, how can i restore my pics ? I simply disappeared by it own, im on andriod 4.0

Did you remove your SD card or format it accidentally?

Using a file manager app like Astro or ES File Explorer, navigate to either mnt/sdcard/dcim/camera or mnt/sdcard-ext/dcim/camera and see if you can find your pics.

The pictures are not on the sd card the pictures are on the phone memory, the only way to them back is to do some recovery i think

This is where Android gets unnecessarily confusing. Phone memory is actually /mnt/sdcard/, while the actual external SD card is /mnt/sdcard-ext/. So if you look for /mnt/sdcard/dcim/camera, you are in fact searching your phone memory where the camera usually saves photos.
