love francos kernel

Hope 18.4 plays good with my phone, had to go back to 18 after flashing 18.2 bacause I kept getting rebooted for some reason.

With 18.2? Interesting. People had problems with .3 because smart reflex can't handle more than 1.5, so if you were overclocked past that and had the cpu settings set on boot you were stuck in a loop.

Wasn't a boot loop, I never ran more than 1.35 but mostly had it at 1.2 since I think that is fast enough for me. I just kept having my device power off all of a sudden, I would pick it up and it would be off. Sometimes the notification like would be blinking but I couldn't get screen to turn on. Stopped doing after going back to 18, I never saw anyone post any issues on 18.2 so I thought it was just my device. I do have a question, if you use his app to Auto Flash kernel ....does is wipe cache and dalvik too before flashing?

Oh yeah that was very typical of both 18.1 and 18.2.

I don't believe it does, hence I never auto flash. I'd rather make sure it gets done correctly, ya know?

Never flashed 18.1, like I just skipped 18.3 lol. I manually flashed 18.4 so hope I hope it plays good and I may try 1.3 more as my daily OC.

I'll report in once I flash my new rom. Hopefully it meshes. It better! lol

I just upgraded to 18.4 and now I am stuck at the Google logo screen. Never had this problem before.
Should I try to reflash 16.2 (the last kernel I was running) or keep trying to reflash 18.4?

Flash to 16.2. Go into your kernel's settings and make sure you're at 700-1000, make sure nothing is setting on boot, redownload 18.4, then wipe cache/dalvik => flash zip manually. You should be fine.

Thanks for the tip. It's funny. I just checked that set on boot button minutes before I went into recovery to flash the new kernel. I will try it again tonight. I don't want to be without a phone at work messing around with this in case it happens again.

If you're within those parameters with no set on boot, what I'd do is just a simple test--reboot your phone and make sure it doesn't jump to your old settings when set on boot is unchecked.

That problem--the set on boot problem--seems to have caused the litany of issues with 18.3. Best of luck and keep us posted!

I did a reboot after I unchecked the box. The settings went back to default governor and speeds. I will try and reflash 18.4 tonight.

Just tried to flash 18.4 again. Same results...bootloop. Tried to flash 17.2 and another bootloop. Flashed 16.2 and back in business. I don't know why my phone won't flash the newer kernels. I had 17.2 flashed a couple of weeks ago, but went back to 16.2 after a performance hit.

That's ridiculously odd. My apologies man/person.

Two updates tonight - first, 18.5 is out; second, the app itself is updated so check the market. You can now save color values, which is awesome because Franco's recommended values are amazing. No more going through it and taking 13 minutes to slide the bloody thing around!

18.4 had a blue tint when I tried it.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

Try messing around with it. I believe he also changed his suggested Gamma setting in the blue from 10 to 8. Just the ability to do this makes me smile because it's so akin to Voodoo Color, which is simply astounding in the right hands. Really brings out our screens.

Theoretically, b/c our screens have more blue than anything (blue burns out the quickest, thus more of them to overcompensate), the blue will always be more prominent. It's just a matter of neutralizing it.

The app also now has options for "Increase maximum sound volume." Haven't tried it yet, but that could be a game changer for some people in the Nexus forums that seem to think the volume levels on the Nexus is the biggest issue facing society right now.

LMAO

I agree. Haven't tried it yet though.
