Love or Hate your Galaxy Note 3?

I can truly sympathize with people who are worried about the possible "screen cracking without cause" but selling a phone because of the possibility of something going wrong with it is a little rash in my opinion. Every device out there have countless documented faults and each one of them have the possibility of failing one way or another. What's the point of selling one phone to buy another one that still runs the same risk of having problems sooner or later, albeit a different one.

I admit I am a brand loyalist and before my last phone, a Galaxy S3, all I've ever used are Nokias. I used Nokias for 13 years without fail going through at least 25 different models, some had minor issues, some were flawless. The streak stopped after I went through 2 Lumia 920's both of which were bought outright and both were defective out of the box. The first one would overheat to the point were it was uncomfortable to touch, the second one had creaking hardware issues, there were other countless issues other buyers encountered. I was a stupid early adopter and I couldn't handle spending anymore money for the sake of brand loyalty so I switched to the S3.

13 months later and I was hesitantly selling my S3 to upgrade to the Note 3 and sticking with Samsung, based on my very positive experience with the S3. Yes, there's always a possibility that my Note 3's screen might crack, or develop some other defect. But, at the very least it didn't -ship- with defects.

It's the "your stuck with it, we're not going to fix it unless you pay a fortune, and besides its your fault it has cracks developing from inside and on the frame, plus there is no similarity with all the other documented cases" attitude that takes away your confidence.
A small percentage of owners will have dropped them, or a child has, but there was an unrecoverable issue in that case.

Been about one week and I love it. Only negative is size, but it is manageable. Would be perfect if the front was all screen.

Super disappointed. I love 99% of everything about this phone, but the radio and GPS just stink. I bought it from Verizon the day it came out and paid full price. The radio is so bad that on at least half of my calls either i can't hear the person i'm talking to, they cant hear me or both. And when I use GPS, i get about 10 "GPS signal lost" messages on every trip I use it on. I want to love this phone but phone calls and GPS are two of the most important functions. If anyone has ideas I'm all ears. Bummed about it.

maybe you have a defective device.....like radio antenna out of place inside....when I had mine everything was all good for radio.....gps never use it...then again might be out of place

if still warranty.....exchange it

The Note 3 is everything & more I hoped for. I came from an iPhone, won't go back.

My 1 and only complaint is the GPS. Keeping my fingers crossed it's fixable in software.

Thats a shame. You should get some good pointers from guys here. If you don't get a response on this thread, or right now, I would post a hello and this story on Introductions in Android Central Lounge. Our super Moderators greet noobies there and Dpham00 is particularly good at this stuff, as well as others, Golf, UJ and more.
I know you had 2 posts since October. I said hello there after 4 weeks / 200 posts. Good luck.

*I'm in the UK btw.

Thanks - I will try a post in the android lounge if i can figure out where that is! I've had pretty much every kind of case there is and currently am not using a case at all and still having the same issues. As much as it is a pain to try to exchange I guess I will do that. The GPS issue is so bad that I've missed exits on highways and have been late to appointments. And it is so frustrating because everything about this device is just incredible. I could live with a number of issues but these two are such important and critical functions. From google searches I cannot tell if I'm alone in these problems or not. Ugh.

Definitely the best Phone I have owned... The note 4 will have some big shoes to fill..... The next note will have to HAVE some serious interface enhancements... And power. The size of the phone died not have to increase... Just better enhancements....

Actually Introductions is under Android Central Community, where Android Lounge also lies. My bad.

Did you try taking it back to Verizon? It sounds like you got a bad phone. I would have taken it back for sure.

Call me superstitious, but I always wait a couple of weeks for the 2nd or 3rd wave of devices before I purchase. It just seems as though they work better than the first wave. Just me and my OCD stuff.....SMILE

Hi Superstitious.
It's the new car model thing, wait a few months to sort any teething trouble. Phone makers must have to push to have massive stock available for a launch day. It makes sense in a way to wait for a later shipment.
Congrats btw!

or wait until the first recall happen............
Ha Yes. Recalls on cars would be better. You might get a discount if you buy during a recall.
Btw I thought you might like my contribution under Top Samsung apps. One of them isn't real.

Let us know how that goes.
@Golfdriver97 responded and copied your post from Central Lounge to the Verizon Note 3 forum as well.

I have to confess that it's just too large and unwieldy for me. Plus I have had to factory reset it three times in the three months I have owned it purely because errors started creeping into the OS (options and toggles wouldn't stay set the way I set them and would revert to stock overnight, for instance). Apps kept force closing on me and so on. It always runs fine for a few weeks after a factory reset but it is getting tiresome to have to do that every month.

Having those problems would have put me off any phone for sure. Mine has run well from the start. I would hate to do a reset, though people do it regularly. You cannot to do a straight restore anymore. More time consuming than anything.
You will have been told it's an app, it's this or that. Something upset Mr Android.
Bummer.
