Love that I ditched my iPhone for the Pixel 3 XL except for iMessage

Well I did the move yesterday from iOS to Android and I'm ok so far without iMessage, I'm sure down the road I'll encounter those annoying moments but they won't be so major. My biggest gripe I realized was my bank doesn't support Google Pay but they supported Apple pay and even Samsung pay. I did my research before hand but now only realized Android pay (which is what I thought 9.0 had) was supported. Otherwise it's great so far.

Just to be clear... Android Pay was rebranded as Google Pay about a year ago. So if your bank says they support Android Pay then they support Google Pay. It is the same service, they just haven't updated their collateral is all.

Interesting, im going to bank to ask shortly. My card doesnt have the nfc support on the card but always worked on Apple Pay, when trying to add to GP gives error, i checked online and tons of people complaining its not supported but im gonna double check. i figured as much what you said.

Yeah it does look like crap when I get videos from my boyfriend and his iPhone

One thing that may be a bright side is something I discovered today. If you have a chromebook, use the Messages by Google app on your phone and you can receive those messages on your chromebook too and be able to reply from there as well in SMS/MMS

Do you have a link to the Chromebook extension or how to?

Enable Messages for the Web from the 3 dot menu in your messaging app. It will provide the information you need to use it from your Chrome browser

I'm kind of in the opposite boat. I've been an Android user since Nexus 4. I got a new car a few months back and have had nothing but problems with my Pixel 2 connecting to it using Android Auto. So, for the first time, I'm trying an iPhone. Got a 128gb XR for $100 less than the Pixel 3 with the same storage. Battery life is maybe the best on any smartphone ever. And Apple Carplay works like a charm. Honestly, didn't think I would keep it, but the OSs are close enough nowadays, and I drive so much I need it to hook up to my car. Plus my P2 lagged like crazy and I was worried P3 will do the same after less than a year.

I don't think chromebooks support it. Device would need an NFC antenna to communicate with the payment terminal.
Are you referring to sending payments?

Ya I talking about checking out with goolgle pay on the web and not dragging my laptop around to checkouts LOL

I'm my second day with Pixel 3 and I get where you're coming from. Now mind you the device has been super lighting fast, my 6p was too when I had it so I've got faith in Google and Android. But with that said i have a lot of faith in iOS because most of the time it just works. I was sort of worried coming back to Android as my 7+ has been incredible overall (some bugs but nothing major) but it's been good.

iMessage

My wife still has her iPhone and when she sends me pics or videos it looks like crap. Only thing I miss. Other then that I love the phone!

Tell her to send the photos and videos as a link instead then you get the full resolution.

Sad to say, but my wife wants to get back to Android but simply refuses because of imessage. She LOVES the camera on my 3XL which are now full of her selfies and such but she says until Android gets a true imessage of it's own she has to stick with the fruit

Tell her she can't use your phone for more selfies. And if she likes it that much she should just switch 😁

Also looks like WhatsApp is about to start displaying Ads in the app -.-

Yes this is sad news for me. I am a heavy whatsapp user and convinced most of my family to switch to it since a lot of them are IOS users. I guess it won't be too bad since it will only be in the status section and I almost never check that.
