Love that I ditched my iPhone for the Pixel 3 XL except for iMessage

I use iOS and have turned off iMessage and mostly use whatsapp.

I never could convince my friends and family to make that switch to either whatsapp or Facebook Messenger. We have a mix of iOS, Android and flip phones so SMS being the fallback makes iMessage preferable when I'm on iOS.

I'm starting to love Google's Messages more though, especially since I found out the web version works so well. Limited to SMS/MMS(?) at the moment for too many, but hopefully RCS can get some traction soon.

All of them. The Google photos app works pretty much the same on iOS. I have it set so when she's on WiFi it just backs up her pics and video. Then I can see them to. Mine does the same thing. You just have to have Google photos logged into the same account on both devices. So we each have our personal accounts with all out contacts and email separate. Then I have another account I setup just for pictures and video to be backed up to in Google photos.FYI for a FaceTime replacement Duo works great on the iPhone.

The free option for high resolution backup is unlimited. However with a pixel you get free unlimited full resolution photo backup for pics and video taken with the Pixel.

After 2 years on Pixel or in general from all other phones including iPhones it's still unlimited but Google will use compression algorithms and won't be in original quality.

I think Google photos is one of the best service from any company in recent years. Personally I use Google photos as my main back up and also automatically back up to OneDrive and Amazon photos. It's just good to have redundancy.

Group messages with all my friends using iPhones works perfectly with the Google stock messaging app. We all get the messages, pictures, gifs...very cool. I'm really happy with this not really need to use what's apps.
