Hello everyone and happy Thunderbolt day!

I picked up my phone here in Philly at 8:00am so I'm still playing and figuring things out but I wanted to share the LTE speeds here. Please share yours as well if available.

Ping 141 ms
Down. 6381 kbps
Up. 39020 kbps (after several tests it is averaging over 30,000 kbps up)

Boston:

ping: 63
down: 20,435kbps
up: 23,910kbps

Holy crap that is fast. I don't get that on my wifi on my home computer. I hope I can get 1/4 those speeds in St. Louis. At that speed you could reach your 5GB "soft cap" in just over 30 minutes.

I ran it again just now and it was 15k down / 20k up with 89 ping but still very nice. Happy with it so far. I'm coming from an original droid (that was dying) so it's like night and day.

I think something is screwy with the speedtest app for LTE.

No way its getting 30mb up.

Seems pretty unrealistic. Wouldn't be surprised if it were not accurate. But even the download speeds of 15mpps seems pretty high. Maybe the network is so empty that were not getting real world speeds quite yet.

Can you guys try the actual website and note the speeds.
The app will show incorrect upload speeds.

Please try speakeasy.net/speedtest (flash based website). On sprint I'm getting about 4Mbps down in an area I used to get 10. I also noticed they throttled my data yesterday to 1xrtt speeds in a 3g area (thanks to the rom I'm using adding the 1x icon that doesn't show on the stock rom).

Yeah, I'm still getting great download speeds on that website: 21.89mb but up is only 3.32mbs. (Boston).

Thats more like it... I get 19 Down and 9 Up from a wireless signal to my Laptop from a Fiber Optic network right now. I like the website though better because its consistent. Speedtest for me on my Epic throws servers all over the midwest (I'm in Florida) or when I try to manually pick one, the Closest is some crappy server in Tallahassee which is still like 500 miles away (Florida is big).

Ok, went to Speakeasy.
Tested using Washington dc

Down 9503 kbps
Up 1598 kbps

Now I'm in a large building in philly. I'm gonna go outside and check both.

If and when they go to unlimited 4g hotspots (which they will eventually I think) and speeds improve a bit (LTE advanced), we'll be able to cancel our cable modems at home.

Well, I'm moving to Miami for a job (supposed to be looking for a place to live). The coverage maps, if anywhere remotely true, are just amazing. LTE is by far much better technology than the WiMax. I've been able to checkout WiMax for a few months, liked it when I got it. May go to a VZW store now though. Worth the $200 ETF.
