Just wanted to get the word out on this so that Samsung might consider it worthy of a fix.

Currently, if you browse the web via 4g on your phone, you can make calls without any issue.

However, if you wish to use Mobile Hotspot with 4g, you will drop your connection every time you try to make or receive a call.

In a nutshell, if you want to use your phone and hotspot simultaneously, you are out of luck. Sprint feels like it might be a software fix and not a hardware limitation. I have a support ticket in at Samsung as well.

Well, I am surprised that this doesn't matter to anyone. I am taking mine back. With any luck I can come back to it if they fix it with the Froyo update.

I noticed something fishy with the wifi hotspot and 4G connection myself. Even sitting next to the window though which I see the cell tower 5 blocks away, with 6 bars of reception (-64 dB - massively superb), 4G will just disconnect. I've seen it too many times in the last two days. I'm interesting in hearing more details.

Just received confirmation from Samsung regarding this issue. It is not a "bug" rather a design flaw that they will address in later updates. They weren't clear on when that might be, but it could be Froyo. If it is, then I will go back to the Epic. For now, I will be back on the EVO.

Check out my posting. I'm not using the hotspot but i'm still experiencing 4g issues.

Can anyone say if this is a problem with the root wifi tether app? Would be yet another reason not to pay for Sprint's Hotspot.

I know that for two months I used the EVO this way and never had a problem. It's Samsung and their implementation of the mobile hotspot that is defective.
