MAJOR increase in battery life

Wow!! For weeks my LTE Gear S3 was really bad on power consumption. I was getting about 24 hours, sometimes less, on a single charge. I also had frequent (every 5-10 minutes) drops from bluetooth the Wifi connection. Just would not stay paired with my Note 5.

Well, enter the Note8! Received the new Note8 on Thursday, 7 Sep. In order to pair my Gear S3 with the new phone, I had to do a complete factory reset and re-pair, including reinstalling NumberSync.

Since sometime Thursday evening, when my Gear S3 was last at 100%, I have not recharged it and it is still at 55% as of Sunday morning. Also, I have not noticed a single drop in bluetooth connection between the Gear S3 and my Note8.

If you are getting really poor battery life, you might try a complete unpair, factory reset, and re-pair. Downside, you will likely lose most/all your personalization settings, maybe even some watchfaces.

Was well worth it for me. Your mileage may vary.

Cheers.

Noticed the same thing here. I did a factory reset on the S3 when I got my Note. So far I am using about 15-20% of the battery daily.

I agree... I got the S8+ this last Friday and have noticed a huge improvement in battery life and reliability in notifications and syncing.

Only down side is that I can't remember the name of the watchface I had.

All the apps (including watchfaces) that you've previously downloaded from the Gear app store are listed under My Apps. This makes it a quick process to restore your watch.

I checked there and only a few of the watchfaces I've downloaded show up there.

Pretty obvious here, BUT, I found that if I don't care, turning off all radios except for BT makes the watch last forever. You crank on LTE/WiFi and battery goes down hill super quick since the BT isn't always rock solid (so lots of radio switching). Anywho....totally a "duh" on this but thought I would reply to keep the convo going.

Yeah that's true. A decent middle ground I've found is to turn off LTE, and leave wi-fi on auto. I work in a building where I can get cell reception on my phone, but not so much on my watch. Also, when I'm walking around the office I constantly go into and out of BT range of my phone. The constant connects and disconnects were wreaking havoc on my watch battery life, but I've found that the wi-fi transition is a bit less taxing.

Only downside is that when the watch is connected remotely by wi-fi, call forwarding doesn't work.
