So I know there was one post already related to this but no solution in that thread has worked, nor has any solution posted on various websites.

I wish I could just disable LG IMS as the frame work contributes to features of my phone I simply don't use, however I cannot find the place to do so nor the IP type most websites tell me to. Like I said I have a Stylo 4 so that may be the issue.

I also doubt it has to do with any particular app as a factory reset did not fix it.

I am at my wits end so either a detailed guide for disabling it or any other fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. Created an account just to post my work.
I’m an apple *****, but my wife is T-Mobile with a V30. Just started getting the message a few hours ago. Had to go in a specific order to get it to stop. Airplane mode with no connections (WiFi or data). Then com.lga.ims.rcsprovider, force stop then clear data. Stopped the messages for long enough to get into the “hidden menu” by dialing 277634#*# and IMS Settings>IP Version>IPV4V6. Then when I connected back to data and WiFi the messages haven’t come back. About 10mins since I did. Will update if the message returns.

Thank you. I did that, it work for me changing to IPV6 only, but not changing it IPV4V6.

The V30 I have has a setting called IMS Setting. This brings up a menu with VoLTE (ON/OFF) at the top. The fourth item of that menu is called IP Version. We may not have the same hidden menu. Yes. Can confirm message did not return so far and have been connected to network and WiFi for good measure for +20mins.

Found a fix for LG G5!

Do the clear cache/clear data then don't back out of that app. Leave that up, dont kill the app, don't click the back arrow, dont restart your phone, leave it running in the background! As long as you dont end that task, it keeps it on cleared and there is no error message. Once you close the window you'll start getting the messages again. Took me 5 hours of trial and error and 4 resets (the 3rd I threw all caution to the wind, went into developer mode and almost FUBAR'd my device), but there ya go!

Ive attached a picture of what I mean by leave it running in case my excitement for a fix is clouding my abilities to communicate :D

This trick does seem to be working on my own LG G5 at the moment!

I have a potential solution.

I put the phone on airplane mode.

Then

Force stop/clear data from com.lge.ims.rcsprovider

This makes is stop, but phone does not work

Then

go to phone, dial 277634#*# to access secret menu

Then

Go to IMS SETTINGS and switch IP VERSION to IPV4V6

Then restore phone functionality by switching airplane mode off.

Haven't seen the error since doing this.

But, I do not know what I did.

I would really appreciate it if someone would explain.

Thanks

There is no permanent fix. LG stopped making phones April 2021 and there have been no updates and there will be none coming. The only real fix is to upgrade, which almost all companies are going to force an upgrade on all these devices any way due to the network connection. Some tricks help to stop the notifications for a bit but that’s it. Some are glitching so bad the cellular network stops working. It will not be just a T-Mobile or metro issue, this is nationwide and will ended up being an issue with any carrier. Some phones are just lucky and haven’t had the problem yet. Today was hell we had over a 100 people call or come on with this issue. PLEASE DO NOT factory reset your phone it does not make the problem go away. It will come back and if you didn’t back up everything properly that’s it it’s gone and the problem continues.

Just saw this after I posted

This appears to be a fix

Is it weird for the hidden menu - IMS Settings to only have a blank page with "Slot - 0 : TMO / US"? There's no ability to change IP Address there.
Might just be a V60 thing, idk, but ive tried just about everything I can to get a usable phone back lol

Re: Ims pop up since this morning

Our megathread (stickied at the top of the forum) on this is only the 3rd result when you search Google for 'LG IMS keeps stopping'...

i had the same problem. finally figure out that you actually have to click on "Slot - 0 : TMO / US in order for it to bring up the secret menu. finally got to it and followed instructions but it still didnt work for me. i have tried every suggestion at this point and it still isnt working. i can send and receive text messages and i can still get on the internet but not able to make or receive calls with or without wifi

Same problem as everyone else. We have two identical phones, both LG Aristo 2 Plus. Both have the dreaded 'LG IMS stopped' message every 5 seconds. Maddening.

I tired everything mentioned, no joy. Including factory reset, did not help.

I spoke to T-Mobile this morning, they said it is a common problem for many LG phones on many carriers, not just T-Mobile, and to call LG at 1-833-378-0003. I called LG and the recording said they are aware of the problem, and to wait for a fix (and the implication was to not wait to talk to a rep cause there is as yet no progress).

I spent 1-1/2 hours waiting on the LG chat page waiting to chat with a rep. He suggested all the usual workarounds, but I tried everything. Finally he said they are working on it, hopefully a fix today.

The longer this keeps up, the less and less likely I will ever get an LG phone in the future (I know they are out of the phone biz.) and less and less likely I would sign up again with T-Mobile.

I'm with T-Mobile and I only had the option of texting through the app. I spent 3 hours trying to fix this "Unfortunately, LG IMS has stopped" it got me no where. Only thing that was able to get fixed was calling and texting. My phone is three years. Every 3 sec that annoying message pops up.

I cleared the the data.

this works...

UPDATE: error message pops back up if I connect wifi and there is no network connection

Per T-Mobile: Lots of calls regarding this issue, LG is aware of the issue and is actively working on a resolution. Since it is an LG issue, need to contact LG directly: 1-833-378-0003

I have a LG stylo 4 & I was having the issue all day with the Unfortunately LG ImS has stopped working, like everyone else & I saw what someone wrote from this afternoon, Greg Williams I believe & I tried what worked for him & it worked for me!
I was about to lose my mind if that kept happening![BOX]j[/BOX]

Well. Looks like after a power off and restart that the message comes back. The IMS settings were already IPV4V6. Tried back to V6V4 and message persists. Will try to put it back to V4V6 once wife let’s me have it back. Until the power restart, the message hadn’t appeared for over an hr.
