Modified CWMrecovery for Odin (DJ05/DL09) Plus new root instructions (Updated 1/15)

Yeah I have no idea, very new to all this. If you don't get it I am sure I am ot going to get it anytime soon. But Stupidfast makes it work correctly, Haptic feedback and bluetooth are money now. I have my nandroid back-up, install super-clean .04 right now.

Thanks for spending you time to explain and help out. For me the explanation was the most helpful portion.
Thanks Again

Mystery solved!

Please review the first post if having trouble with clockwork red disappearing, or update.zip not working.

Sorry about that.

I'm probably digging deeper than I need to here, and I've read the entire thread..but do I need to worry about whether I'm running green or red? I've flashed the super clean DL09 with kernel 1230.. and love it. Just wondering if I need to flash the red CWM..

So... That kernel that you provided at the bottom of the OP... Does that need to be flashed via Odin or CWM? Because I am still stuck with with stock Recovery and failed update: zip after flashing the CWM.tar in Odin and rebooting into recovery.

Update: Ok I got it. For clarification, you need to boot into recovery DIRECTLY after flashing the CWM in Odin. Do not let your phone boot up after flashing. I found that disabling Auto-Reboot in Odin helped as the phone was booting back into the OS since the USB was connected thus giving the phone power and wiping my flash. After I did this, it was all smooth sailing! Adren, you are the bomb diggity!

i need some help, my phone is stuck in the recovery window and I can get out....I cant do any of the options it has either, just sits there and does nothing....any help would be appreciated

my bad, had to let my phone sit for a minute, all the steps Droidxcon listed in his write up for adrynalynes method worked.....went through the entire process and I now am rooted once again, thank you to droidxcon and adrynalyne. much appreciated.

So, Ryan was having the same issues as I. I ended up flashing 12/30 kernel to get things to work. Appreciate adryn's explanation, which makes sense, going to try this again just to see if I can get it working with stock DL09 kernel.

*Edit* Using updated kernel added to OP works, but if you reflash to stock DL09, it fails again. Your choice can't be stock as provided by VZ OTA. So, Verizon dev hijinks to prevent CWM.

Definitely sneaky of them. I need to pull apart the initramfs from the stock kernel and see now they are doing it.

I knew it had to be something with the samsung kernel like that, they are trying to keep us from hacking aren't they

i doubt that was their goal , they would have made it a little harder than than that.... the leaked version wasnt final. they may have just made some changes. i mean even rooting is still pretty simple to accomplish we can even use most the old ways , i mean besides z4root.

Actually, the compile dates for the leak and the ota are exactly the same, I checked.

It seems to be something lingering from DI01, or DH12 that does it. DJ05 Odins, and DL09 Odins are fine.

Well for now I am just going to run the stupidfast kernel. It seems to make everything work just fine. I had to go through all this again today because I messed up the swype update to the superclean rom and it fubared everything from there on. Even my nandroid backups where not working. Had to reload DI01 and update OTA, rooting on the DL09 update is a pain because of the new media sync they are running too. All in all this was a frustrating learning experience.

how can i remove cwm cant find it anywhere with out losing apps and settings since i debloated today

wow. I thought I knew something about Android phones (had my fascinate since last October) but this is all gibberish. Can someone explain what i'm supposed to do with these files? I have a mac (but got parallels and windows xp) so just give me some directions and I can probably take it from there.

For instance, I don't know if there's a difference between "base" and "root" files. If so, what is it?

How do I root DL09? I thought that's what this forum is for, but it's too full of jargon.

How do I "flash" something using Odin? Specifically, I want to put on Adrynaline's supahclean. I've been trying the better part of the evening, including using Corey's instructions for rooting my phone, only to read some where else that doesn't help if I want the supahclean.

Sorry if I sound frustrated. I just feel very lost amidst all the different pages and links telling me that these are the instructions only to find files I don't know what to do with. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I was able to root my OTA DL09 using the modified 1-click method. Now I want to install CWM, do I use the Odin and CWMRecovery_DJ05_DL09.tar files provided in the OP and just skip the step concerning the su/busybox file? or do the whole thing as stated in the instructions? or do i need different odin/CWM files since I'm already rooted? any help would be great.

yes just flash CWM

Thanks Adrynalyne for all this and all the others that help make our phones what they should be.

Now on to my problem lol. I was already rooted and running the Voodoo kernel with lag fix. When I flashed the super clean rom .4 I lost haptic feedback (which I've read about), but I also lost texting. My buddy said he got an empty box, and I'm not receiving texts. So I flashed the DJ05_DL09_kernel.zip at the bottom of the OP. I may try another kernel (anyone got the link to the stupidfast one?). What do you guys think?

Thanks guys

Thanks man. I'm looking around for it with little success. Is there a link to the radio file somewhere? Do I flash it the same way I would the kernel and rom?
