Re: Moto X (2013) - Major Problems After Lollipop Update

Ok, I just realized that I can go into Google Play -> My Apps->All and open apps from there, but that's a bit round about. I still can't update a single app though.

We have two Moto X-13's and both on verizon. Both get the ! over the wifi andhave big issues after lollypop.

Re: Moto X (2013) - Major Problems After Lollipop Update

I fixed mine with a factory reset. Works GREAT now. Take care though to back up SMS (evem if you use hangouts) and other non cloud backed up data.

Re: Moto X (2013) - Major Problems After Lollipop Update

there has to be some other way to do this without a factory reset geez......

Re: Moto X (2013) - Major Problems After Lollipop Update

I have a Verizon and AT&T moto x (2013) both with lollipop (5.1). Neither phone will connect to wifi. Cleared the cache partition and got it to connect to wifi for about 5 minutes (on both phones). The AT&T moto x is trying to update but I can't connect to wifi so I can't update.

Anyone know how to fix this wifi connection issue?

Re: Moto X (2013) - Major Problems After Lollipop Update

@tspeice87 seriously I had the exact same issue. Do a factory reset. Turn off wifi, use wireless data, Download SMS Backup+, backup your sms, use a micro usb cable & computer to back up your downloads & photos. Then do the factory reset. It worked for me, like a new phone. Way faster also.

Re: Moto X (2013) - Major Problems After Lollipop Update

Ugh. Was really trying to avoid factory reset especially on two phones. Do I really need to back up if I use hangouts and Google photos?

Thanks for the help!

Re: Moto X (2013) - Major Problems After Lollipop Update

Factory reset should be standard SOP after a major update. Backup SMS, pics and videos if you want as well as saving your launcher setup if you use a launcher like Nova. It's not to big of a deal and it's easier than dealing with issues unnecessarily.

Re: Moto X (2013) - Major Problems After Lollipop Update

I updated on October 1st from KitKat 4.4.4 At&t xt1058. Now it wants Network sim pin and says the phone is network locked Emergency calls only.

Spent 2hrs with AT&T and 3 with Motorola and at a retailer where he tried everything. :( They said the phone came Unlocked for all carriers.

You can enter a pin all you want and AT&T tried every pin. And a new sim.

Unsuccessfully. I can only use WiFi :(

Any help from you or suggestions??

Kind regards,

Duane

got google working but still had wifi issues so ended up doing yet another factory reset wifi is still wonky but working better this is ridiculous at best....

Re: Moto X (2013) - Major Problems After Lollipop Update

With all those issues, sounds like you have a phone at end of life, like a loose wire or something

Re: Moto X (2013) - Major Problems After Lollipop Update

i would agree thats its an older phone but before the update it worked great if this doesn't fix it ill be calling moto trying to get a new one

Do you have an answer for this yet? I have same question, as my phone downloaded 5.1 and keeps prompting me to install, but I want to stay with 4.4.

Would be great to get these messages to go away, because I know one time I'll just instruct to install.

Same question... Is there anyway to disable the System Update notification for Lollipop 5.1?
KitKat is working fine and I'd hate to essentially disable a perfectly good phone. Seems too many people are experiencing dorked phones after the upgrade here in this thread. Is this the norm or exception?

I've not encountered any wonkiness with my Moto X since upgrading to Lollipop. Certainly not intending this as a "there's no problems at all" statement, just that I've not encountered any issues. Battery life has been fine, stability has been fine, performance has been fine. The only adjustment I've had to make is moving from Motorola's "Trusted Bluetooth" to Lollipop's SmartLock Trusted Devices; SmartLock has the behavior of locking the phone after so much inactivity time despite being within range of the trusted device/location... not a complaint, just a behavior change.

There is no way to shut off the prompts. In my opinion, most complaints are people not doing factory resets and/or giving the phone a few days to smooth out.

There's a separate thread for the update and whether it's a go or a no-go. It wound up around a tie.

I think this phone is inconsistent, in itself. Some people (like myself) got an incredibly stable phone that never seems to run into the issues people who didn't seem to get a stable phone ran into. I had no problem at all with the update and have adjusted to the differences between KK and LP relatively easily. I still miss a few incredibly trivial things (like having weather always active on my lock screen), but do love the new features.

I also think some people have app combinations that shoot them in the foot. I run a fairly sparse config and don't use a ton of apps in general. I have to believe that contributes to my stability.
