Do yourself a favor and don't put anything on your phone until 4.4 is installed. Then wipe your cache partition, factory reset, and go about setting up your phone normally.
Couldn't agree more. It's always best to do a factory reset after a software update.

If an update requires a factory reset for most users, the company is doing it wrong.
I haven't done a reset yet.

I know there are lots of people who are having success without a reset. Which is why I get irritated by people saying everyone should just do a reset.
It takes like 5 minutes on a fresh device and you're no worse for wear. My suggestion might save the OP some potential headaches.
