I'm having an issue that may be the same as yours. I noticed that my alarm wouldn't go off in the mornings. I pick up my phone when I finally wake up, swipe to unlock the screen, and it goes blank. Pressing the power button doesn't turn it back on. I have to hold the power button until the phone resets. This has happened to me three times so far, and I have missed class twice, and was late to work once. I use a regular alarm clock now.
This has happened to me during the day as well, although it is a much bigger problem when it happens at night with an alarm set that never goes off. I wiped system cache two different times, in addition to wiping app cache and that didn't work, so I factory reset on two different occasions, and just kept Google apps installed, and that did't work either.
I'm convinced that I have a lemon, and Verizon is sending me a warranty replacement via mail. Not too happy because the replacement devices are usually refurbished, however, the rep said it may be brand new because the phone was just recently released and there may be no refurbished phones on deck. Also, it's being shipped economy instead of overnight? Vzw trying to cut costs. I asked a manager that I'm friendly with and he told me that they only overnight replacements now if the phone has paid insurance added to the bill. Previously they used to overnight all replacements. Found that interesting.
