Music skipping on Samsung Galaxy S3 - even when stored on phone

Hi all,

I have just bought an s3 (I9300) - having lost my old s2 - and was expecting a superior bit of kit. I am so far unimpressed, and have one particular problem.

When listening to music (particularly when the screen is off) the tracks stutter and jump as if I'm listening to a scratched CD. I am listening to music stored on the phone itself and have tried using the standard music player, google music play and power amp (with buffering increased) - but the problem is still there. It's as if the phone is struggling to deal with the amount of memory required to play a normal MP3 - which seems pretty unlikely.

Has anyone experienced the same problem? If so - any tips? Do I have a duff handset?

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Thanks for the response - will give it a go

At the risk of giving away my general ignorance - how do i do that?

First back up your files on your computer, then reboot into recovery and select factory reset.

However, I'm sure that there's probably an easier fix. I'm having a similar problem on my device. My music skips when I'm doing other things on my phone. What version of android are you running? I'm on CyanogenMod 10.1 Android 4.2.2 on my HTC One S.

My music started skipping/lagging today no matter if on sd or phone.Or player. Does anyone know of a fix? I'm not prepaired to do a factory reset. Thanks

Have had the same problem for the past couple of months. So ended up contacting Samsung and got the following response, which has fixed the issue.

"Please try removing both your SIM card and battery from your handset for 10 seconds, reinserting them and restarting the handset. This will refresh the memory and Operating System of your handset without losing any data. "
