My texts stopped making noise about a week ago and I can't figure out how to turn it back on.

I have a Samsung galaxy s5. My texts stopped making noise about a week ago and I can't figure out how to turn it back on. I've done a number of things I've found on the internet and still nothing. I've already made sure my notification volume is turned up. I've gone I to settings and changed the ring tone for a text to see if that would help. Nothing.

Whenever I get a bug in my phones, the first thing I do is wipe the cache partition. That gives the device a spring clean and often cures minor ailments.
