Nervous about sticking with Sprint?

I have not read all the posts and replies on this page, however I am glad that most of them are backing sprint up. This is awesome for me because I have been with Sprint for the past two years, i upgraded to the EVO LTE two weeks ago and started my sales job with Sprint one week ago. So far all i have seen are customers coming over from T-Mobile because they're data is too slow, a ton of Verizon customers are porting over because their plans are too expensive, and ATT customers are coming over becuase paying over $100 bucks for a single line is just bonkers (not to mention they complain about how terrible their service and customer service is!). So what i really want to say is stick to Sprint because they are up to something! "We" are ranked number one in customer service by JD Power & Associates 2 years in a row and have great plans for individuals and families.

Cheers!

You've just concreted what ive said..Its time to jump ship because not us but SPRINT failed to invest into its network at the right time and adding more customers by the droves is not a good thing!!! This is what happened in Houston..The system is just plane old overloaded!!

Sprints unlimited data makes it well worth it for me to deal with the far from perfect data speeds. I'm on my phone nonstop so unlimited is a must for me. :)

You're a better one than me, I decided not to renew my contract. According to their site the upgrades are already done in my area and the data is still atrocious. Not to mention them constantly dropping the few benefits that were the only things that actually made me stay with them. Unlimited data doesn't mean much when you can't even stream music without it buffering to hell. People complain about the big two being too high but one thing that extra money guarantees is better service... in my area anyways. As of right now, continuing to pay Sprint for the service they provide just doesn't make much sense. Good phones, terrible network.

Good things come to those who wait :) Sprint is working on their data speeds and 3G will be just fine once things get rolled out. But if the factor of unknown data improvements is weighing heavy on you and there is a definite need for faster data speeds, then perhaps moving to another carrier that is more established in your area is what you need.

There are areas that these "upgrades" have already been completed and the data is still slow. When they did them here the speeds went up for about 2 weeks and now they're right back to what they were before.

Ok if you have had problems in your area with Sprint then please just move on. Trying to convince others to move on also is just petty. If you are having issues where you live then we all understand moving on but trying to convice others to move on who are not in the same area as you and don't use their phone the same way you do is ridiculous. This is a Sprint forum and if you are not on Sprint or planning to leave then go to the forum that interests you. These threads get bloated with pissing contests to see who is right instead of helping people who have legitimate questions.

Exactly.

Do I wish Sprint speeds were faster? Of course I do, but they are sufficient for my needs and I'm pretty satisfied. Plus customer service has always been great to me. I like Sprint and no amount of someone whining about them is going to change my mind...I base my decision to stay or go on my experiences with them. I had AT&T about 6 years ago and had an awful experience but I'm not gonna go to their forum and try to convince everyone to leave them.

Exactly. Plus some of the Network Vision has been implimented in my area and I'm seeing 2mb download speed in a lot of areas. The rest are in the. 8-1.2 range. I'm fine with that. LI NY is also in line for LTE rollouts in the early second wave. I'm fine where I am

It's funny, I am lurking here because like others, the "value proposition" is what really counts... not the speed that you get.

What do I mean? Simply this - I have been a VZW customer for over 14 years. And honestly, I have been a "Verizon" customer since the dawn of cellular service starting in 1983 as I was employed as part of the NYNEX community that brought it to the east coast in 1984 (Ameritech beat us in Chicago). I have a second generation 3G handset (Galaxy S). I live in the greater Madison, WI market (arguably a Fourth Tier city) that has had 3G for many years and now has 4G for better than a year.

My average data access speeds using the standard test apps that most folks have rarely get 3G standard speeds... these have been published somewhere between 600 Kb - 1. 4Mb (ymmv depending on who's EVDO spec you read). I consistently receive data speeds that are sub-3G standard. They range from over 1000ms latency and 90Kb downloads to sub 100 ms latency to "blue moon" 1.1Mb. On average, it's less than 300Kb download speeds. I also have a network extender in my home that cost me $150 so that I can be charged by VZW to carry my calls over my Charter broadband connection that I also pay for.

Value? I have been paying VZW a kings ransom for a product that they can't deliver. At my more rural home, covered by EVDO, I get sub 100Kb downloads right in the middle of my lawn.

Now I read here that my VZW speeds are like "light speed" compared to Sprint users and that's troubling for the industry at large. I wouldn't mind changing carriers to get a like service (as bad as it is) for a quality price. But I think that VZW and Sprint for my geographic location is providing a lower value proposition for their customers. My argument to Sprint Management (enticing me to move) is... why should I buy your 4G handsets so that I can get 1XX data speeds when VZW will charge me more (as an upgrade fee at $30 per handset) for a 4G handset (plus the cost of the handset) with the hope to maybe eek out better than 1XX and maybe even see 3G low end for more money per month than Sprint? Neither of these "guys" is providing any value.

We are all in a lose-lose condition if we want to use our phones for something more than a phone. The grass is never greener and it's purely based on your own geography.

Just like when you choose anything, it comes down to a pros and cons list. Sprint users love the lower monthly fees and unlimited data. We also seem to get less bloatware on phones and better customer service. Personally, I think that Sprint has had some of the best Android phone offerings. It also honestly seems like Sprint is trying to make their network top notch. Would it be great to have a blazing fast network now? Of course. And if you need it now and can put up with a capped data plan, there are companies that can do that for you. That simple.

The REAL complaint, is that there aren't more telecom companies. I swear Google has to be right around the corner on this. Big green Google towers anyone?

The OP asked a question and people are responding as he asked them to. It's as simple as that. You make some valid points but when anyone starts a thread like this there will inevitably be people who come in and turn it into a pissing contest. However if you can navigate through all the BS there is a lot of good info.

PSA - for all of the people that seem to be Sprint fans or Loyalist just try one thing for me..Give Tmobile or ATT a one week trial with one of our superfast dual core phones. What you will experience is something amazing. Your phone will behave in a manner that its supposed to behave. Some don't realize the major effects on battery life and performance a good fast signal has on our phones. I am testing the GS3 on ATT right now and the phone flies like lightning compared to my GS2 on Sprint. Its like apples and oranges..Takes me 2 seconds to download a 10mb file while my GS2 takes 4 minutes..Keep in mind this greatly effects battery life...paying your hard earned money to a company that made HUGE mistakes (wimax) shouldn't gain any sympathy. They also made a HUGE mistake by inviting the Iphone to the network when they were fully aware of what millions more users would do to service..Make them PAY for their mistakes !!!

Man look I had att tmo and vzw and I'll rather have sprint than any of em tmo coverage is too spotty and I use about 15gb a month so vzw and att is def out the question

You are correct, I've just been told by so many newbies that it is discouraging to ask a question or let alone just read some of the threads because of the pissing contests. There is some good info in between all of the child like behavior but it does get irritating some times.

I am, without question, dropping Sprint.. I hate to sound like I'm complaining but whatever I'll speak my mind on the matter. I have limited wifi access outside of my home. I use my phone 8 - 10 hours a day at work and the speeds are so slow I can't even run Pandora, load a youtube video or even load a webpage once it's 8 AM.

The WiMax is absolutely terrible and the signal is mediocre at best.

I understand that "it's not a big deal, I am always around wifi" but the truth of the matter is, that isn't the point. If that's the case, why don't you just buy an iPod touch or something? The only reason they have unlimited data and don't throttle is because their speeds are slower than ATT or Verizon throttled. I'm averaging .01 -.05 mbps .. it's downright 56k speed.

What really brought me to my decision is when I had 2 weeks remaining on my 30 day guarantee, I wanted to cancel. So I called customer service to let them know I am not keeping the service or phone because of it's slow speeds. I was placed on hold and was told that they are having "tower issues".. okay, fine. 2 weeks passed and the speeds got slower.. I just thought to myself it must be delays.. happens all the time. 2 months later, speeds got abysmal, but I was locked in already.

So, take it for what it's worth. I rather pay more money to have service that's usable. I have 1 year left on my contract, hard to believe I'm only half way through this crap.

That's my 2 cent.. or change for 20.. however you want to take it :)

I live in Davison Michigan and the 3g speed there is fast im happy with sprint

I travel a lot and pretty much came to the same conclusion, in many markets, Sprint's current 3G network (not yet upgraded with Network Vision) is running fast. Last month I was in Washington DC as was getting 3G speeds north of 2mbps. Last week I was in Jacksonville, FL and I was consistently getting 12-13mbps on WiMAX!!! Not bad for the pioneer 4G tech everyone likes to bad mouth. It really depends where you are.

Keep in mind that network.sprint.com website does NOT include Network Vision upgrades. The upgrades on that website are PRE Network Vision improvements to hold customers over until NV is complete in that market. Sprint is aware of the problem in some markets and they are trying pretty darn hard to fix it, they just can't keep up with the demand for data the iPhone and explosion of Android phones has caused.

However, I will say this, Network Vision was engineered from the ground up to support Unlimited Data, the underlying multi-mode technology is very flexible and Sprint is one of the only carriers with excess capacity / spectrum to grow, not including Clearwire's addition of TD-LTE which will be the fastest commercial LTE network in the country. Sprint is the first to implement this state of the art technology, they just need to hurry up.

The reason for this is that they constantly add new customers to the network. Theres nothing they can do..They made a huge mistake taking on the Iphone at the wrong time. They could have waited on the Iphone5 while they built a network that could withstand the user base.

The bigger question here is..Why do you long for the fastest processors and highest resolution screen when your data speeds don't allow you to process the content? You can't even watch an HD youtube video without it stopping for 5 minutes to buffer..10 bucks more your run through that video like your on a Fios connection.
