Network error *sigh*

Ok another issue Im getting on this new phone is network error. Its all the time. I hit retry and it works so it isnt a huge deal and seems to only be when Im not on Wifi but lets face it. When Im not at home Im never going to be on Wifi so it could become a really major problem. Anyone know how to fix that or what might be the cause? I havent rooted or anything. And I did the *228 program thing a few mins ago and that didnt fix the problem. My info under about phone is:

Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband: s:1500.04 V.EA28
Kernal: 2.6.29
Build: SCH-I500.EA28

My status info is:

PRL: 52219

i have had a similar problem for time to time, from rom to rom. it has never been a lasting problem. of course i usually dont stay on a rom more than a day.

Yeah its not something that is horrible right now. It fixes itself when I hit retry. Tomorrow Ill be out away from home with no Wifi and in a town with great signal and then a town with shotty signal. Usually I can grab at least 2 bars in the shotty town on both my DX and the Fascinate I just sent back to VZW. It will be interesting to see if this network error becomes a problem at that point. Hopefully it wont.

What are your notification icons doing when this happens? Sounds like it might be in transition from 1x to 3g when you're trying to use it, and it's failing in that second the connection drops to make the switch. I get a similar symptom as I have my phone set to turn wifi off when the screen is off. If it turn on the screen and immediately try to use the internet, I'll get a drop when its switching from 3g. If I wait a moment after unlocking the phone for the wifi icon to show up, it's fine.

I thought this was it until yesterday. It kept happening and happening and I had 3 bars with 3g. It happened with wifi on and wifi off. I finally gave up what I was trying to do (was updating FB status though feeds and updates) and when I tried later it was fine.
