New android 10 update sucks.

I would come closer to blaming Android Auto rather than the phone. I've tried Android auto at least 4 times since I got my Note 9 and none of them have worked. The last time, I made it about a quarter mile before I had to pull over into a parking lot and uninstall the silly thing.

Well I can tell you that after this update I am pretty much done with Samsung.

Ever since my Note 9 has been on Android 10 Android Auto messaging has been broken.
I can recieve and listen to messages but not respond. I always get a "this internet connection is not stable right now".

I've exhausted myself on Google forums, Samsung forums, app resets, cache clearing, evena full device reset.

It seems to be a known issue with Samsung UI 2.0 and they have done nothing to fix it.

Going on 2+ months now of not being able to use this and I've had it.

So Samsung is pretty much guaranteeing that I wont ever buy another one of their phones. Shame because I've been buying their phones exclusively for years now.

Sounds like misdirected blame. It should be on Google and Android Auto...not Samsung.

Not at all.

Android Auto works fine with other phones.
Android Auto worked fine before the update.

Note 10 users who had the same issue also report that it is fixed with the update to Samsung One UI 2.1.

So this is a direct issue with Samsungs software.

Note 10 will have no issues running Q the specs on this phone easily handle next couple Android versions if it were allowed

True but it doesn't support overlays. The only benefits are global dark mode and better user lockdown on individual apks. However google went Apple overboard with security and not in any tangible way it helps me vs the performance dent it causes.
It uses more resources than Pie.
I don't buy a fast machine to drag it down with doggy software. Worse, even though performance increases with each new generation, battery capacity is finite.
I want the most bang for my buck no matter how big the bat is or how fast the phone is.

Even if all of the above wasn't an issue it's still betaware* plus the issues with Samsung's variant and Samsung's new supporting apk's.
If I ever load it will be at least 6 more months.
Pretty much I think it's another Lollipop bad.
I'm calling it; beyond redemption.

Ha-ha, I used Vista too... for about a week.
Although MS came back after Vista, W-7 was their last good OS.
XPx64 will still chew up W-7.
Android is going MS stupid full tilt.
Bloat is bloat.
&
Android's obsession with Apple is degrading their products.

*the final release is never final as they fix missed bugs that are debugged with the "help" of the customer.
No lab rat here... unless I volunteer.

Which overlays ?

Android 10 was not a major update but to polish pie further, and I can't say it uses more resources then pie. I haven't experienced dodgy software .

Most times you get that experience with new software update , if a app is not compatible yet with the new andriod version, need clear out old files from previous version with factory reset or cache clear in recovery. And another reason to experience a dodgy software if firmware was corrupt and need to reinstall it.

Wonder how much larger file size Q is than Pie?

Some file speed tests I've seen aren't pretty at all.
This is one of the issues I'm talking about:
https://www.xda-developers.com/android-q-storage-access-framework-scoped-storage/amp/

This is telling as well, small wonder I no longer trust Google's search engine:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.gi...rt-off-the-web-but-heres-the-latest-data/?amp

I've watched Android put out duds before like Lollipop.
Smells like a dud....
Not buying the hype... fortunately AT&T can't shove this update down my throat unless I let them.

Have popcorn, will watch...

Thats out of our control what Google decides and could change plus phone manufacturers add their flare like Google went to A/B partition and Samsung hasn't ..but marshmallow and up i hadn't had real issues.

I played this game with MS. I want to use the platform not constantly be learning how to use it.
Unfamiliarity is the mother of disaster.
Most likely this Android will run on Pie for it's life.

Lol, still have a S4+ running on KitKat.
The last KitKat update 4.4.4 disabled the ability to do easy root on it. Remember that?
It did nothing much of anything else.
Trust Android, Samsung? Hell no... I learn fast.

I hear you, wasn't it after KitKat got harder ? Don't remember been awhile lol.

You the OS? Lollopop was trashware on the AT&T S4+
Wasn't so bad on say an Edge; AT&T/Samsung deliberately degraded the gooey interface for the S4 running on it, maybe more. The Samsung Browser was unusable on the S4 after that "upgrade". Buttons and controls were all skewed.
The only thing it fixed was the bloody cut/paste function.
That used to really annoy me; took 2 or 3 tries sometimes.
Well I ditched Lollipop and went back to KitKat after a week of finding 2 or 3 bugs everyday. Cost AT&T an open box special.
I never gripped about the KitKat cut/paste bug again... lol

Lot of things were a hot mess at that time , I was haply to have Google play edition, and even converted my HTC m8 to GPE

So much for timing. That was my 1st smartphone.
Lol, now it's superceded my laptop.
Unfortunately AT&T and Samsung are still up to their same tricks. That hasn't changed.

Unfortunately with AT&T/Samsung yes its true .

You know it's funny, but not ha-ha.
Because I made a jump across many generations and incarnations of Android/Samsung, I have a vivid and unique perspective still fresh in my mind.
On KitKat moving files/folders was much easier and intuitive. Samsung Gallery/photo edit was usable and worked well.
Not so on the Note 10+
Gallery is a mess and disabled; using two 3rd party apps to take it's place.
They Samsung screwed up their vid player; no 10 seconds back replay button which I used a lot.
Needed to get Power Amp for music.
Again and again apks that were native and ran well on the S4 were rendered useless on this hotshot flagship.
This forced not only to debug and optimize this future shock hotrod but spend countless hours finding 3rd party apks to replace the missing/deficient native ones. Really?
Samsung is like a box full of rabid ferrets:(

Speaking of tricks I wonder if PD MDM will on Q?
That be disaster if it got disabled for me.
It's happen with other package disablers I used. Or they purposely lack the ability to block carrier updates.
This one doesn't have my favorite interface, isn't free however it is stable, and blocks updates.

So many things you don't consider or even think of until you have slammed the upgrade in... and no way to know how many fires you'll have fight. Or if you will ever get running the way you want again without rooting it.
Pretty much why I'm content with a good running stable OS that I like. Once bitten, twice shy.

There's no doubt I'm wuving the display, speed, memory, improved charging and killer gooey interface of this Note.
After over a 100+ hours of optimizing, learning, troubleshooting etc it's doing and looking mostly how I want it to.

Don't jinx that with PDP

T-Mobile lgg7 just got the 10 update today. It SUCKS! So you're of Google making things more difficult and trying to be like IOS. I may have to finally root my phone. Haven't dinner that since my Galaxy 3 or something. But between the recent apps list now being sideways and having to scroll from screen to screen rather than easy to see vertical stack.
They also added a Covid 19 contact tracking section. They added a "digital health" to so "you" not them can teach what apps your spend more time on. They added some stupid game launcher that you can't get rid of. And that's just what I've found over a free hours so far.

You can download Samsung good lock app in galaxy app store and change recent apps the way you want , can also get Package Disabler Pro and disable anything you want for few bucks and no need to root or anything , if you have US version no root though.
