New fw update is a game changer!!

Getting what's app, gmail, BBM notifications that I have checked and tested also support for CNN, BBC and loads of other 3rd party apps as well. There were two parts to the update one where the firmware got updated that was yesterday but I could not get third party notifications and text templates. Today another small update where addition of 3rd party notifications added and are working flawlessly, manage text templates is working great where you can add your own templates as well but only working for sms reply and not supporting reply third party apps. Should be active in next update most likely. Will keep adding on what I discover. Any questions let me know.

It's not available in the US yet. If you want it it's a simple install and doesn't void any warranties since it's official software. You download the file and the Odin program. You load the file. Toggle USB debugging o. The Gear and then put it in download mode. Plug the Gear in and install. It takes 10 mins once you've got the files downloaded. The link is in the other firmware post in this forum.

Fingers are crossed, waiting for the Galaxy Gear update + 4.3 for the Galaxy s4 mini so it can use the watch, right now it can't.

It's an accessory that doesn't interact with the cellular network. Why would carriers have to be involved?

Got it now, thanks. I thought he was referring to the Gear itself, not the update.

I mentioned the status of the update being an issue to the Samsung reps at Best Buy when I returned my Gear (among other things). After talking to them for a bit I think they're starting to understand why the return rate is so high...

Exactly, the carriers have zero to do with it and when they do get involved the muck it up big time. Look at the 4.3 update launch, pull back and relaunch. I guess I will just update my GG the manual way with the UK FW.
