NEW (Official) EVO Froyo OTA update thread

it might just be my imagination but the OS/GUI seems a lot snappier with 2.2. web seems somewhat faster too. would like to test out the new Flash 10.1 but not sure what site to test with.

Can someone or has anyone noticed that when you reboot that when you first pull down on the lock it will quick flash the HTC screen. And also when you reboot it will take a second and find your network it will display 4 bars and then quickly back to the 6.

Just try out Fox.com to see if you can watch old Family Guy episodes.

Question to those that have the official update: Are your widgets having to reload after unlocking the screen once in a while?

I'm not seeing that on mine. I did have problems with my 4G widget not toggling on and off, but I did a reboot and all has been fine.

Try another reboot and see if that helps.

i saw that! i hate bloatware and i hate SYNCING bloatware even more!

it SUCKS!

when i turn the device on, i look in task killer and i CRINGE, EVERYTHING is running, from stupid nascar to everything else.

also go into settings/ running services to shut other stuff down...

Anyone know how to move apps to SD Card?

go to applications>manage apps>all then one by one just open it and if the app is able to be moved you'll see the option lit up to move to SD> Just keep in mind not all apps will be able to be moved. The developers have to enable it. Hopefully they'll start to update them.

What is in the OTA update that wasnt in the previous version? New stuff, big fixes?

I will have to wait to get the OTA because I, like many did the manual update.
On that topic, any one that manually updated get the OTA???

YO,

So I downloaded the link provided above to see what happens. The link downloaded to my phone is titled "firmware.zip". I relocated the file to the root of my sd card. Next I did a manual install; so I turned off my phone and turned it back on while holding down on the volume + power.

From there I selected recovery. Then held up + the power button. While in the recovery menu there was no file located as "firmware.zip" but "update.zip" was there. So, thinking I can over write the file or trick the evo, I decided to rename "firmware.zip to "update.zip" and I rebooted my phone and located "firmware.zip" and renamed it to "update.zip" like the leaked rom.

Again I powered off my phone and powered it on again while holding down + power. Selected recovery once again and held power + up to enter recovery. "update.zip" was located. After selecting it I got a message saying something about the cache and installation was aborted.

So in conclusion, it did not work and I guess we (.3) have to wait for our official version. I powered up my phone again and it works fine; no bricking or glitches.

"Enable always-on mobile data" check off/on box is still available in settings. someone reported a few weeks ago that this option was removed in 2.2 but it is still there. i now leave it "ON" and checked anyway and havent notice any significant negative impact on battery.

Yeah, Neocore 25.9 FPS :(

I read somewhere that they removed the cap, but I guess I gotta learn that everything I read on the internets is not true. ;)

I'm by no means an Android expert, and I never rooted, but if I'm not mistaken, if you rooted your phone, this update won't work for you. Even if you did a factory reset, your phone is still rooted.

You need to wait for the developers to come up with a rooted rom of this new release and install that rom.

Again, I'm no expert, but this is the way I understand it.

Maybe someone else can verify?????

this sounds about right... Its not like I used the root much... I guess i'll just download the RUU and reset everything to factory, and wait for unrevoked to pop us again since I really don't want to load up custom roms (too many weird ones and the drawbacks of some are stupidly overwhelming...)

I spent 3 bucks on the setcpu app though, would i be able to get it back later on?
