OK. Tethering has been added to the settings, but I couldn't get Wifi or USB to connect. :-/

Thanks for letting us know everything new Phil. I think I may get a Cappy after all, if the GPS really is "amazing" or "fixed" now as some people at XDA are writing. :)

after the update and still on 2.1 i can get a fix quite easily if i stand in my back yard
if i'm driving i can get a fix sometimes but it won't hold it for more than a few seconds unless you put your phone on your dashboard
i usually have it in my lap or in my passenger seat depending on if i'm alone or not.
and if i held my phone up to the windshield it got a fix but when it went in my lap it lost it.

pretty bad fix if you have to buy a car mount for it work

The Gps works great on mine, it locks in my house, outside, and locks on the road when I am driving. I did not have problems with jf6 *original when I got my phone but it did take forever to lock*, JH7, I had to change to the supl.google.com to get a lock and even then it was not perfect. Now with the froyo leak, I had to get into the lbstest and delete gps settings and all of sudden with the stock server, it locks with ease and stays locked.

HTH,
Charlie

ya i've decided i can't wait for samsung and at&t to get their heads out of their a$$

i'm using an aria right now. i'm thinking of selling my captivate. i prefer sense over touchwiz anyway. i'll deal with less memory and small screen to get a UI that i like and a phone that was working when it was released. granted there was a fix sent out for an exchange problem. but only a percentage of people use exchange.

everyone uses gps for one thing or another. be it navigation or just an app trying to locate you.

@johnnyshinta -

That's funny, I've kept my Captivate because the big screen and exchange support is more important to me than the gps. That said, I use touchdown, which would work just as well on the Aria...

Just as long as everyone's happy :)

I know this has been asked 4 million times, but if I go ahead and use the leaked version and end up not liking it, is it possible to reverse this "leaked" version back to my 2.1update?

@bdpyo

It is possible to revert to previous versions, but doing so (at the moment) seems to prevent the official ATT update working- so do so at your own risk.

Whether this trend will continue for the offical ATT froyo update, who knows? Other companies (Sprint, HTC) have provided official "reset yourself to the stock ROM" packages.

Hope this helps,

AoN

USB AND WIFI tethering working here. Using Cognition ROM. Fried yesterdays ROM messing with it, but hadn't tested it on Stock unmodified ROM.

Edit: works on stock Froyo too.

(Re:GPS quality)

GPS seems much improved- I'd misconfigured yesterday (deleted that post)

Turn off use wireless networks, then
Lbstestmode > SUPL/CP Settings > Server FQDN Type > Auto Config
Reboot phone

Turn on

Settings > Location & security > Use wireless networks, Use GPS satellites & Use sensor aiding

Hope this helps,

AoN

Is anybody else having a problem installing the driver? it will only go so far then it will just stop and say the install was not completed

Thanks mouse.

I do not like how my pictures are gps tracked, how do I disable that?

I was using USB Tethering yesterday *just wish I had 3G out at my house* because my T1 was down since Sunday Morning 1:30 am.. Which I get to contact Covad about giving me a discount for over 24 hours down.. Work we have a ds3 and it is rarely down!

Cheers,
Charlie

I hatehow the browser seems slower.

And I cant figure out how to disable the geo.tagging feature with the camera....help!!

bdpyo,

With the camera app turned on touch the left arrow on the left side of the screen to bring up the camera info borders. With the borders open on the bottom left you'll see a gear like icon you can tap, tap it. This is the settings mode, in hear click on the little wrench like tab at the top left. Now you should see an option that says "GPS" with a green check mark. Tap the check mark to grey out the check mark. Once that is greyed out it will no longer record GPS geo.tagging in pictures/videos.
