New superphone for sprint soon? HTC Evo 2?

I will assume samsung will continue to release galaxy s phones for ALL carriers. That was why they had record sales last year, even with all the froyo update backlash.

i just hope they don't give all the other carriers thin sleek phones and then give sprint a bulky slide out keyboard. If you asked me a year ago if I would buy a phone without a physical keyboard I would've said NO WAY. But after fighting with my Palm Pre's keyboard for the last year, I'm almost more happy with just having a very large screen and no hardware keyboard.

I want an Epic 4g 2.

Slide out QWERTY
1ghz Dual core Orion
4.3 Super Amoled plus
Great camera quality (if its anything like my Epic)
2.3 gingerbread

That's what I'm hoping for

I'd consider an Epic 4G 2, but it would need to be considerably thinner. The thing is just way too fat for my taste. I'd rather have no physical keyboard then a thicker phone.

Add one more to the list. Launch day Pre minus (no replacements) now looking at Android. I'm considering an Evo but might be able to keep my Pre on life support until the next Sprint flagship device.... Maybe..

I had battery problems when I first got my Evo, couldn't last 5hrs with constant use during the day. This was my remedy
1.Got a spare hero battery and an external battery charger (the Evo actually doesn't charge the phone correctly which is why there is such a huge drop when you first unplug ur phone)
2. Rooted and running a custom rom

Now I get over 8-10hrs battery and this is with streaming music pretty much all day at work

For a Pre owner 5 hours is a dream :)

^^This. LOL

I honestly forgot how bad the battery life is because I'm almost always somewhere i can plug in the phone (car, home, work)

The Pre does seem to sleep well overnight though... on those evenings i come home too drunk to remember to plug it in.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm kind of nervous about what I hear about the battery life on the Evo. If they release an Evo style phone with some spec bumps and a much longer lasting battery then I am totally sold.

What has me nervous is this lack of "trickle charging" I'm now hearing.
How have users worked around this?

And how does just rooting and adding a ROM help battery life? That has me scratching my head.

I bought my Evo and almost took it back because of the battery issue, Im not always in a place where I can plug in and charge but instead I bought the 3500maH Sedio battery and have had no problems with battery life since. I am always on the internet pushing emails all day and like to run all the bells and whistles my Evo has to offer. the battery does make the phone a little bulkier but I like it it seems to fit in my hand a little better and it adds protection for the camera lens

I felt that the Epic was pretty darn thin for a smartphone with a slide out. It only measures about 1mm thicker than its Evo 4g sibling. Not to mention the Thunderbolt is even thicker than the Evo. Definetly not a fat phone imo. But of course I wouldn't mind it being thinner. The Galaxy S II is supposed to be even thinner than the galaxy S I so maybe the Epic 2 (if they make it) will follow that pattern...

If you're on Sprint then the better phone to have is the EVO undoubtedly. There are a few other phones with the same similar features as the EVO. Most customers love the screen size of the EVO so much... that other carriers had requested HTC to build them phones with similar features and capabilities like the EVO.

Phones don't even get a chance to become a year old anymore before being called obsolete. Lol. Most customers want manufacturers to make new phones every six months. They seem to forget that it takes two years for some, and a year for other phone customers to get an upgrade.

If I had to choose a phone all over again... it would be something within the EVO line.

I'm hoping for a price drop on the Evo soon, also. Hopefully, it will come before April 1st when the new Sprint Premiere plans go into effect and I lose my upgrade until August (it will be 22 months for my wife and I at that point). However, June-July is usually the big release window for phones so I may tough it out with our Pres. Mine is in pristine shape but my wife is how shall we say, "agressive" with her electronics.

I can't believe it. No Evo 2 announced. :( No mention of Sprint during all of MWC as far as I've seen.

I've had my Epic for six months and want to switch to EVO... sadly I'll have to wait until 8/31/11 (unless you guys know some tricks to get Sprint to help me out).

Same thing happened last year so I'll save u the heartache. Sprint will announce their devices at CTIA in march. MWC is a global event anyway and is usually focused on non-US market announcements. I also think they have less "cool" handsets to announce (hence Echo...) so they have to wait till where it will have the biggest impact

Thanks, makes me feel a little better, but I was really hoping for some promising news before then. If they're on the same schedule as last year then I have to wait 'til march to find out about the new phones for sprint and it won't be 'til June/July until I'm actually able to get the new phone. :( My Palm Pre is getting worse and worse by the day and I really need an upgrade.

got the evo now and love it, I can't wait for the evo 2. I was tempted by the thunderbolt but will gladly wait for something better.

I find the Atrix intriguing, but I am waiting to see what HTC announces by my June subsidized upgrade eligibility.

In any case, I am tied to Sprint for another year, so Atrix is out of reach anyway!
