New VOIP option for GV - single app solution: GrooVe IP

I tested the new version with the latest CM7 Gingerbread and I called a friend I was on Wifi and it was choppy and he called me back and the call was perfect.
I think with the amount of complaints for this app it needs to be free it is just not right to charge people for your beta test, The apk is and has been out on file sharing sites so it sounds like the dev is just greedy.

Within your google voice settings (on the website or in the GV app) you can set all your call to go directly to voicemail by turning on the "Do Not Disturb" feature.

I'm aware of this..
What I was saying is on an incoming call to have another slider or button to forward strait to voice mail if I do not want to take the call..
But still have the option to exsept the call if I choose to do so..

In other words do away with the ignore button as its pointless~

On a different note:
For 3g its all based on what tower your own (prl ghats being used in other words)..
I can confirm that the calls have only a 2 sec lag on normal 2g however I still as of yet been on 3g to test the app..
But like I said its up to the tower and how much band width is being used bu others as well for clearity..

With that said on my 2g net work my avrg. rate is 90 KBs for downloads & 50 KBs upload..

Users may want to run a speed test to see what there bandwidth speeds are and pist them if issues are had for debugging

Greedy? Did you put in the work to develop the app? $4 is not asking much. I spent more then that on lunch, and 4x times as much if I wanted to increase my minutes. Maybe you are just cheap!

and btw, I ran several test on AOSPCMOD 4/27 and the app worked fine.

You're just being incredibly cheap. Very few apps have an actual dev taking ideas and putting them in the app tthe very next day.

I couldn't agree more..
Even with the price increase Groove is still worth it in my book..

For those that want free go with Sipgate and enjoy your head aches!

Wow. I can understand if you don't like the app or it isn't working well for you. But we did do a lot of testing before releasing the app. Unfortunately there are A LOT of different android phones and roms. To get things perfect on each and every one is very very complex. We're working very hard to make sure the app does work well on every phone. We did go out and buy an Optimus when things weren't working well on it. Unfortunately we weren't able to reproduce the problems so we had to recruit people to help us test. Sorry if you feel we're too slow or not doing a good job.

I never understood why people think it's ok to steal apps. Would the same person feel it's ok to walk into a mall and start stealing clothes? Just because it's easy doesn't make it right. Generally to make any app it takes a great deal of time and effort as well as a certain amount of knowledge. When you go to work don't you expect to be paid for it? Why should it be any different for us? We work on GrooVe IP after our regular full time jobs and on weekends. We're not trying to be greedy by charging for the app. We spend an insane amount of hours working on the app and just want some sort of compensation for our time and effort.

If you'd like to pirate the app, go ahead. If your morals don't stop you, I can't really stop you. I'd rather spend my time and effort improving the app and putting out frequent updates than trying to prevent people from stealing it.

Now that is a great idea..
If you can (if anything) see if you can have it set to 5 or 10sec increments so we can have it either 5sec ring on up to what ever GV allows until Voice-mail pickup~

I for one would like to have a feature (or at least a button) for making an incoming calls go to voice-mail..
Ignore is nice and all however the normal 10 rings or so will still take place to the caller in witch many times my buds just cant stand to wait that many rings..
Just a thought as Im not sure if its possible to make incoming calls go strait to VM due to GV's limitations~

We can actually do this fairly easily I think. By default when you pick up a call from Google Voice it asks you to press 1 to accept or 2 to send to voicemail. We have a checkbox to auto-accept the calls and send the digit 1 when you press answer. I think what we can do is have a voicemail button and when you press it we answer the phone and send the digit 2. That should send the person to voicemail.

He is likely using a old version of Groove IP. Maybe that is the reason he is having problems on a CM7 rom. That tends to happen when you get apk's from unofficial sources. Dont expect it to be the newest version. Don't expect anything since you did not pay for it.

BJ, making friends everywhere he posts. /sarcasm ;)

Even without being able to use it over 3G, I still think it's worth it to be able to make unlimited phone calls over wifi, and never worry about my 300 min/month plan running out.

After combing through the logs a bit more I think we've identified a few more areas to tweak. Should improve things.

Not to condone piracy or add fuel to a fire. But, I paid for the app, have the most current version, and do have a problem with it, to the point that it's unusable. Yah, cost of a lunch and all that. But, I could have gone and had a lunch.

I'm glad it worked for you under CM7, it doesn't for me. I can accept that it's a 4G broadband issue. If it is, I can't do much. That said, the more complicated SIP + GVoice + Callback way DOES work for me with mobile broadband. So, I'm a bit iffy on that blanket assumption of why the app doesn't work.

I'd love if it worked, I'm a bit jealous that it does work well for most people.

C'est la Vie.

Hi,

I didn't mean to ignore your problem or say that there were no more problems in the app. If you don't mind running a test build with some logging we can try and figure out what is causing the problems on your phone. We did find another area to improve when looking over the logs. I think we'll be rolling out another version in a day or two. I'd love to try that change on your phone and see if it improves things for you. You paid money for the app, I want to get it working for you. If your willing shoot me an email snrb.labs@gmail.com

Thank you for considering the idea at hand..
I have always had issues with sipgate when switching to the dail pad to select #2..

So ya if its possible to intergread just a button for sending users strait to voicemail I know I for one would be most greatful..

?ON THE WHOLE PIRACY THING ?
I'll be frank has I have a piracy copy of .13 as I don't even have $4 to spend..
However that doesn't mean I'm not willing to help our even give the "team" the upmost respect they deserve..
(how many users here or else where would admit such things to the maker of an app they had stolen)..

When money starts coming around I'll make damn sure to pay for this app..

In short don't bash the team of any app as many of you don't even have the balls to even admit to the team that you stoled there app as I just done..

P.S.: @SNRB: with this said if your team needs another beta tester I'll be happy to help~

It's working perfectly for me after the latest update, using the latest aospCMod on an Optimus V. Thank you to the dev. This thread is one of the best responses by a dev that I've seen, so big props to you.

Sounds great!

I don't think that you've ignored anybody, rather the opposite. You've been very helpful to many people here. I'm not 100% optimistic but I'm more than happy to work with you, if it will help myself or others.

Wow...Just wow.

$200 Phone + $25 a month, and you don't have $4 to spend once on an app that gives you unlimited minutes in addition to the great CS the authors are providing?

Putting the money issue aside, how smart is it to admit to stealing to the person you stole from and then show no remorse?

This is getting off track..
At least I admitted that I use a piracy copy.. I'm not proud of it but at least I ain't bash an app that I stoled from the team..

You only quoted a small amount of what I had said..
Read my whole posting again and you will see that I have respect to the team & that I will buy the app when funds here allows me to do so..

How smart was it for me to admit that?..
It was very smart!..

Try to stay on topic guys, we all know how easy it is to steal apps/music/movies. It never makes it right, but the majority of the population does it anyway, and people that steal very rarely ever buy the app even if they like it.

Getting on topic, I tried Groove on different roms, 9/10 calls worked all the way through, which is great to me. One difference I did notice, was quality was different on two different routers. Some calls fell off, others went through great, the only difference between the routers were the NAT type and password restrictions. If this does have a greater affect on the app...than truly, you really do have your work cut out for you. Seems to me that when I was usin Aosp 2.3 rom, I had less trouble overall.

My problem with the app is as soon as someone calls me,the app wakes up for a split of a second showing persons phone number and it hides. If I try to bring it in focus, there is no phone number showing.
It shows just like an incoming call. When I hang up call and check the phone log, correct phone number is shown. I hope that issue could be resolved. BTW I'm using Samsung Vibrant, quality is really good, had some echo, but have fixed it adjusting speaker/mic gain levels...

UPDATE
Have tested a little bit more and that issue appears only when the screen is turned off. With screen on all is fine and caller ID shows fine.
