Nexus 4 Ordered on November 27: Order Status and Tracking

Well, I think they have been pretty transparent or at least level set you when they told ya above the Add To Cart button you pressed...

Ships in 1-2 weeks.

It's only been a week. Could be stuck in a warehouse in UPS for days... but they still have a week left to get it to you. I'm not gonna worry about where in transit my order is until after my 2-3 week window.

They also said they will not charge me until it ships. The amount posted to my account, and I have no tracking updates. That's where I have a problem.

Could it be they are creating the shipping labels because LG is telling them they are ready and LG is using those lables created (created online but printed at LG) and being shipped directly from LG once the phones are made... somewhat to how Apple will make orders and the the phones will be made and shipped from FoxConn China directly. The the fault could at LGs end then.

thats honestly what i think is going on...

Here is what I do not understand, according to posters on this thread and elsewhere on Android Central and other on-line forums as well as a colleague who was lucky enough to get an order through during the original release. The phones are shipping from UPS Supply Chain Solutions, "GOOGLE ANDROID CO UPS-SCS" so how can UPS or yourself not see them in Louisville, KY (SDF), I am NOT doubting you in the slightest and I appreciate you chiming in as somebody who works for UPS, but Google is passing the buck to UPS and UPS is passing the buck to Google which leaves the customer out in the cold.

Dan

maybe the phones haven't arrived to Louisville from LG/Korea?

i figured it went like:
1. LG tells Google how many orders they can take
2. Google takes said amount of orders via google play
3. LG sends phones in mass quantity overseas to the warehouse in Louisville
4. UPS handles the logistics and shipping from there.

so between steps 2 and 3, google may have told UPS to prematurely create labels based upon which bracket your order fell upon (i.e. 1-2 weeks, 2-3,etc) and maybe LG is not on schedule with manufacturing, which could be causing this miscommunication?

this is just my assumption, correct me if im wrong

Honestly, they could have told me they will charge the moment I checked out and have to wait 2-3 weeks and I still would have done it. I'm pretty sure they wouldnt wait to charge until it actually 'out to your door' ships... charge when the phone is in a position to shipped. Bottom line is why get a headache even if its a logistical glitch when they say 1-2 weeks.

I was thinking that too, but if so, Google should never have generated labels, which is what is causing the confusion, IMHO.

One further thought, if the phones are coming from Korea or China, most likely 5X (UPS's IATA code) is moving them through ANC (Anchorage, AK.) and UPS would know for sure if they carried LG's shipments or not and moreover if they are destined for UPS SCS in SDF (Louisville, KY.).

3.5... they get to Louisville where they are put into the system and then as each one is tied to an order, they credit card is charged and once it goes through, the ship label is generated for that phone and the phone is put in the out box. And once the batch is completed, UPS picks it up from there and scans that they received it and goes from there. my assumption.

Google Play store has been a HUGE disappointment in the way it's handling Nexus 4 orders. It's obvious the store is OUT OF STOCK... Taking customer orders and still not processing the credit card order for coming up to a week now. Terrible way to handle business. Plus, isn't Google at all embarrassed by the repeated fiascos of not being able to handle the large volume of on-line orders? Isn't the company supposed to have oodles and oodles of servers and employees?

very possible.

If they are to go to Louisville then I doubt they generated labels before they arrived... again they have to count them and them tie them to an order, charge the buyers card and then create the label. geez just imagine how many phones are being processed in bulk? 10s of thousands? 100s of thousands?

It's worse than that... They're taking customer orders and ARE processing the credit cards. Several of us have permanent charges on our cards for an item that is nowhere to to be found. The charge for mine made it onto my latest Visa statement that I received yesterday, so it's a permanent charge, not a mere or temporary credit card "approval" charge.

For those that have talked to Google, do the Google people seem aware that there is some problem (even if they don't know why), or is there attitude, "gee, this is the first I've heard of this." ?

TBH I don't think they even know what the Nexus is... They are that bad.

Ordered two Nexus 4s on the 27th in separate orders as to use 2 credit cards. Got shipping confirmation on both on the 30th, one should up yesterday and the other, according to UPS, has not been received but a label has been created. Called Google and they said they would have a specialist look into it, havent heard anything yet (its been 18 hrs or so since I called). I am hoping that its on its way, since it is my one that is "lost" and all I can do is try and play with my girlfriend's.

1st week of 27th orders ... Hope to see the shipping email of my order.

27th - 2-3 weeks estimate

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

I ordered mine in the first 45 mins of going on sale on the 27th, got a shipping confirmation on the 30th along with tracking number, and have yet to receive a phone or have updated tracking. Looks like I'm not the only one...
