So curiosity got the best of me, and while I am here having lunch I decided to call Google for an update.
Basically, the rep stated that the shipping notice was "possibly" sent out too soon and it could have been an error (in not so many words). He said he cannot confirm if an error was made or not but he did confirm that I did receive a shipping confirmation without UPS actually having the device in hand yet. He says that as soon as UPS has my device, they will scan it for the first time and the tracking will be updated in their system.
He said that I need to rely on the original 1-2 week estimate and that I am guaranteed to have it before
12/11/12 which would fall in line with the original 1-2 week estimate.
Guess I will have to just sit back and wait a bit more
